I can only speak for the Architecture department at the school and find that the program is extremely character building. I believe that the facilities and faculty really allow opportunites to grow in a variety of ways training the mind to think in a unique way for design. It has been many years since my graduation but at that time I could describe the education as almost a philosophy of design - unique to architecture schools. Could receieved benefit from more hands on real world experience earlier on in the program, maybe a bit more research opportunites also, but all and all a superb school with an outstanding program. Thank you CUA.

The University blew off my student residence info. I was paired with my exact opposite. DO NOT TRUST THE RESIDENCE LIFE. Flather Hall is disgusting, Opus Hall is hard to get in to, Centennial Village is gross but an upgrade from Flather, showers are cold, urine on every toilet seat, drunk students every weekend, crappy food, worst security department, slow maintenance staff, rude students. AND MUCH MORE!

Everything you have read recently about this school and Music School is 100% true! I came into CUA extremely open minded and optimistic, unfortunately i soon realized that i wasn't getting everything i was told that i would receive if i went to CUA's program. The School of Music is near broke money wise with facilities falling apart and being outdated. Its ridiculous to think this school cost nearly what an Ivy would cost ($50,000) yet you look around and see your classrooms and facilities majorly outdated! It may not seem like such a big deal to some to have the best facilities but at the end of the day it can really take a toll on your quality of education and learning experience. The performance spaces the school frequently used are falling apart and the departments are so underfunded that they frequently couldn't even afford microphones for the actors and performers! Majority of the faculty i found were terrible. Some of the new faculty members running the program are extremely close minded and don't seem to care for all their students and their development. Instead they usually stick with their favorite students while coldly ignoring the rest of the student body. The school in general seems to pride itself on past students success that happened years ago when different professors were teaching. The connections i felt were also lacking for a program that has been around for a long time. We rarely had masterclasses with professionals in the field which i feel are essential to you'r learning and career development in a Music Program. The school itself i found was not very diverse nor open to different theological and political beliefs. Im sure this was one of the reasons why majority of the students i knew, music and non music students transferred after freshman year. On a positive note i will say DC is an amazing college town and city offering a lot of diverse things to do. Other than that though i don't think i could've gotten through a year at this school without having DC as an outlet. At the end of the day this is just my experience and opinions. I am happy to say i am transferring to another University where i feel like my opportunities and training will be much better. CUA may be perfect for you, but for me it was not what i had hoped.
