This is the worst possible place to be. Professors are terrible. Steven Strunk was a genius and the salvation of the theory department. Now that he has passed away and no one will take his place I have been told that my degree is no longer worth the paper it was printed on. Faculty does not care about your learning at all. If you are not willing to play the game with them you will get nothing. Many times creativity will be stifled "in accordance with Catholic Doctrine". I know that the school is run by the Vatican and I have been Catholic my whole life but CUA seems to enforce that policy on whim and as it is convenient for them. Expect degree requirements to change frequently. Do not come to this place expecting to graduate in 4 years. It is not possible, mainly because classes are frequently cancelled due to low enrollment. The university rides on its former success without doing anything to cultivate positive atmosphere or academic success in the present time.

Going to this institution was a huge mistake. As a person of color, I had many experiences of discrimination and prejudice from fellow students and faculty. There was a lot of resentment and hostility from people. I was often the only person of minority in a classroom. The school is FILLED with bigoted, racist, ignorant asshole rednecks, and I'm being kind saying this. It was unreal the amount of hatred people had when Obama ran and won the presidency. I have conservative tendencies myself and don't feel like all conservatives are this by no means but many were just hateful and racist. I would not recommend going to this school if you are a person of any minority.

Honestly, I love Catholic. The professors really care and help you with your work. The academics are outstanding. All the alumni that I know either went to some of the top Graduate schools such as Harvard and Stanford or got a very nice paying job after graduation. The course work is very rigorous. Catholic is not a diverse school, that's probably the biggest problem. The curriculum and student body are very European centered. However the minority percentages are rising, which is a very good thing. ^____^
