My reason why Gallaudet (or Gallyland as we Gallaudetians call it) is not a good school:1) the students here are so arrogant and immature. They always come in to class and expect their professors to "babysit" them. By this I mean they expect that professors email them to REMIND them of their due assignments.
2) Many students at Gally do not know how to write well because their first language is American Sign Language. they write as if ASL is a written language which is pretty disturbing. Many professors ignore this and accept this as a written language. Professors never correct their grammar and this is frustrating. Another frustrating thing about gallaudetians is that students are so fucking dumb that they think they're so damn unique because they are pro-deaf. many students here sheltered themselves from the real world and only focus on deaf culture. And by this i mean they don't socialize with the hearing people and they say hearing people are the DEVIL.
Some students here are admitted into this school without ever having to apply or taken their SAT/ACT exam. This is very true.
3) The Honors Program is a joke. Because Gallaudet accept below average student, this this program allows students who want the real college to experience to challenge themselves. Funny, by challenging themselves, the Honors program gives you bogus amount of workload that really does not exist in any hearing college. So the students are overworking for nothing.
4)Although Gallaudet is located in DC and there is a lot to do, such as nightclubs, visiting the zoo, going to museums, and so on, it is very unfortunate that gally is located in the worst section of DC where murders/bulgaries are very common. If you want a real college education, go elsewhere. Gallaudet is a joke and anyone who say this school is the primary school for the deaf, they're correct. But if they say this is such a prestigious school, they're wrong.
