You may visit GW in mid March when the cherry blossoms arQuite BrightUndecided
You may visit GW in mid March when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and there is a light breeze blowing through the streets. As you sit in Kogan Plaza thumbing through your glossy GW pamphlets courtesy of the admissions department, you may start to believe that The George Washington University is the place for you. This is what I thought one fine spring day in Washington, and I have wished that I had rethought that decision ever since.

Once at GW you will see youself that the majority of the student body is disinterested in learning and merely drifts through their unchallenging academic life in order to spend more time drinking in their dorm rooms. Despite the fact that GW is in the middle of DC, the surounding neighborhood is mostly residential and anything of interest is a metro ride away. For this reason, students rarely go off campus and spend most of the time going from dorm to dorm. Metropolitan Police's crackdown on underage drinking has also ensured there is no off-campus social life for underage students as almost all establishments card at the door, including jazz clubs and dinner theatres. You may be thinking of coming to GW for reasons of political interest. You will be surprised to hear that in a recent ranking of schools with a politically motivated student body, GW came in no where near the top. If you are thinking about coming to GW, I urge you to think again. Go back, sit in on some classes and really think twice before making your decision. I wish I had.

Question
This review does not take into account theBrightJournalism
This review does not take into account the incredible people I have met here which has made my 1.5 years a memorable experience. But the University has NOTHING to do with that.

GW is a corporation which happens to run a college. They care about money, money and money. Students are just a way to make more of it. The administration does not give a crap about anyone on their own. Their policies are overly-strict so if you like alcohol or weed, go elsewhere. People here are rich kids, and while there is some diversity, it is limited. Most people are stuck-up and hard to deal with.

The city has its sites, but after a while they get old. It can feel like a police state at times with the DC police cracking down on underage drinking(everyone knows someone who has been busted trying to drink underage at bars). Counting how many police cars are circling the neighborhood can be scary--it makes you feel safe, but violated at the same time.On the plus side, there is a georgeous workout facility and if you want to work for the govt. or in politics you can get internships easily.

Question
This school has left me depressed and atBrightPolitical Science
This school has left me depressed and at times suicidal. Yes, there are other factors that lead to such a thing, however going to GW was the one of the worst mistakes I will ever make in my life. I would have transferred somewhere else except GW broke my spirit, making me apathetic and allowing me to get terrible grades. The administration couldn't care less about its students, and the students themselves leave a lot to be desired. Do not go here, save some money and go somewhere else where trees
