If you honestly are not 100% sure that this is the school for you when you walk on the campus then DO NOT GO HERE. And when you go on tours do not trust everything they say, go around and talk to students and sit in on classes and try to spend a night here because the tour and info session is really not enough. I wasnt sure whether this was the school for me and now that I have been here I realized the University of Delaware has nothing special to offer. I feel as if you do not get any personal attention from faculty and if you want to get into med school they do not really care about anyone else other then their bio majors. If you don't know anyone else going to the University of Delaware then fitting in will be difficult. Everyone hangs out with people from high school and the clicks are almost impossible to break into after the first few days of arriving. After having an amazing high school experience the University of Delaware has been a big let down. Classes are ususally huge lectures and are not really special in anyway. The clubs are decent but are no different then any other school. There is nothing particulary special about University of Delaware and Newark is not fun. Mainstreet is cool when you first see it but don't let it fool you there is really nothing to do there other then get an occasional off campus meal. The party life is okay except many parties are exclusive and not that fun. I have found the University of Delaware to just be a very unfriendly place. I plan to transfer to a smaller school next year. Also although on tours they say its a medium sized school it is really HUGE. If you want a decent college experience and not anything special then come here, but beware because looks are very deceiving.

Though this is a beautiful campus, that is the extent of it. The University has gone overboard on its crackdown on alcohol - to the point where it is driven student behavior underground thus making it more dangerous.

Any infraction, whatsoever, can get you 3 strikes and your suspended for a year from UD. If you play your stereo too loudly, you will have violated a City ordinance which is considered criminal and can get you to the 3 strikes.

They will put you, AND YOUR PARENTS, through a Kangeroo Court (their Judiciary) should you get to the 3 strikes. You can't bring an attorney! A suspension will be on your permament record also. Good luck explaning that to an employer -- unless you transfer to a school either in the south or the west.

Also, UD Security does not walk a beat. They stay in their cars. They bust students, not the Newark thugs and scum that prey on the students. Consider that when you are applying. You are safer going to UPenn than to UD! Case in point (and there are plenty of these crime reports!): http://www.udel.edu/udaily/2009/may/assault050109.html
