 | Bright | BCC is okay once you get used to a lot of things. Of course it is not sweet all the time, we have problems but we still get by. School spirit here is the best and the teachers do actually care. College is what you make of it. If you are given a piece of spam you have to make it a steak. lol | Education Quality: A+, University Resource Use: B- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | I am from washington state, completely acroos the country, so i truely stepped out on a limb to attend BCU..first of let me say BCU HAS THHEEEE BEST BAND OF ALL HBCU's ! and the football team was #1 in the MEAC this year, with a 10-2 overall season! but From my experience i would say there are a few "MUST" before choosing this institution. 1) DO YOUr RESEARCH: research every single thing you possibly can about this school, research the rules and policies, the organizations and how effective they are, research the program/major you wish to go into and their accredidation.. when iwent to BCU, I did not do these things so i was in for a rude awakening.. i was shocked by the curfew and rules for freshman residents. curfew is 12am on weekdays and 2am on weekends, there is never opposite sex visitation and the campus is extremely touchy about this.. you will get suspended or kicked out for this. there were not as many active organizations as i had hoped, SGA (aside from the greeks) were the most popular, but their were only a few faces out of the entire group that actually connected with the campus.. other than SGA there were modeling troops, which put on shows and were overall a good look.lastly, greek life! BCU greeks were the highlight of the campus, they mostly hang out in the quad/yard during the day, and they make any function great ! i loved the greeks, although the AKA's were very quiet and small on campus, which was a surprise to me, however things may have changed. there are a few other small opganizations on campus like dance teams, and choir. 2) VISIT THE CAMPUS: BCU campus is not very big, the front part of the campus ( the part you see in the brouchure) is very nice. but behind that you see the not so nice buildings and landscaping, even though overall it ws not terrible, it may not be what you are expecting. the cafe is small and has select hours you may eat, it closes at 7pm, and the only other thing to eat is checkers and bethune grill (if you dont have a car) so grocery shopping is a must! 3) TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS: the financial aid experience will drive you crazy if you dont have everything in place by registration day. it took 4 months to release my financial aid.also take the palcment test very seriously! if you score poorly you will have an entire schedule full of college prep classes(which you DO NOT recieve credit for) and the school is very expensive if you have to pay an entire year for prep classes. MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING YOUR MONIES WORTH WHEN IT COMES TO CLASS SELECTION4)GO IN WITH AN OPEN MIND: every single university and college has its ups and downs but at the end of the day, its all what you make it,i left BCU but i have friends who are very happy to stay. if you are in the band, cheerleading squad, SGA, or greek life ,Or in the nursing ,business program i would reccomend BCU. if not, you may find yourself bored after the first few weeks. | Education Quality: A, Surrounding City: D | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | Remember, Mary McLeod Bethune gave everyone of her B-CC students a chance to be successful. I believe that is the philosophy set to date. Many students are given a chance at Cookman.(Even the ones who would have never been accepted anywhere else). I advise students to look beyond what they can see with their eyes and look with their hearts. There is no such thing as a perfect college/university. You must find your niche and go for it. Anywhere you go (even the workforce) you will find there are people without proper professionalism. I will not quite my job because of their lack of discipline. At Bethune-Cookman,I was taught to be on time. The professors frowned on the fact of students coming to class late. Also, I was part of this magnificent band. You were required to be on time there as well. I am always on time to work. When I say on time, I mean I am there 20-30 minutes early. I contribute this to Bethune-Cookman. I work with professionals who graduated from some of the well known (better known) universities in Florida. I am just as or better equipped in my craft than they due to the more personable and well informed Professors at Bethune Cookman. Please take time to reflect on yourself and your goals. Seek help from your professors who will help you be successful. You should be an intrinsic and self motivated learner. Make things happen. Again, everybody at Cookman has been given the same opportunities as anyone else. It is up to you what you do with it. BCU is a great tool to use to build a successful future for yourself. | Starting Job: Counselor, Preparedness: A+, Reputation: A+ | | |
