Where you belong is the motto, seems more like a joke too me. Barry is in the middle of one of the worst parts of North Miami. It is a small Haitian ghetto. You can see homeless and drug addicts on the side of the roads surrounding the university. The food is of poorer quality then they serve to the incarcerated. The staff including the security are all hired from the surrounding ghetto and most have no experience in their field. Public safety is a joke, this year someone was robbed at gun point and had their car stolen right inside of campus. Barry University treats its students as a paycheck, it is not safe and it is definitely NOT where you belong!

This school is disgusting !!! The showers are clogged, The toilets are clogged. There is mold everywhere, so if you want to be sick all the time, this is the place to go !! A lot of the staff are rude, unsympathic, disrespectful of SOME students...they rule out who they like and dislike...so if your on their dislike list..BEWARE !!! The students are mean, racial, and so are most of the staff !!! If you do unfortunately come to Barry, do not live in any of their dorms....GROSS !!! they should be paying our medical expenses and doctor's bills !!!

Super Brilliant
Before attending Barry, please understand there is alof of misleading advertising. They do not support a Greek system except for exploiting the fraternities and sororities to get high school seniors instresed in attending Barry.

The neighborhood is not safe. My friend got her throat slit almost 2 years ago walking to her car from a dorm. The schools stance was "she was on the wrong side of the fence." Public saftys view was "Its not like she got raped, only sexually assuslted.". ( this comment was made directly to me when I complained about a parking sistuation....see below)

Fin aid is a nightmare. I was going homelss and several banks said the school could have increased my off campus living cirtification, Barry refused. They did not offer on campus living and it was my senior year. The lady at Fin aid shreadded my scholorship applications and said "you dont understand, the programs are not for people like you. Your white and privledged, this is for minors." At 30 years old, i think i struggle just like everyone else.

Due to an oversite, i was able to move into a house because another student realized there was a mistake in there dorm. Living on campus is very bad. We had 1 bathroom for 5 girls. My roomate and me had to pee in the bushes because the other girls would not let us use the bathroom. When my make shift coloset broke, the school used a think rusty metal wire to fix it. I went to homedepo and got the part for 89 cents. The room was an addition to the house and too cold to sleep in it during the winter. The bathtub often had roaches in it. One of the rooms flooded from the ground.

We were lucky because there was not alot of mold. We were not allowed to park at the house, we had to use the "over-flow" parking. The parking lot closes at midnight and opens at 8 am. It is also the same path that my friend was attacked. The attacker was never found and assumed to be a man that lived in walking disltance. I got several parking tickets for parking in my driveway.

The classes are not worth the challenge. I am attending FAU and the teachers give out the answers to the mulitple choise test the day before the exam. At Barry, most test are short answer, essay, fill in the blank and some mulitple choise. The hard C vrse easy A, go for what is easy. My GPA of 3.2 at Barry was lowered to 3.0 for grad schools. I talked to several grad programs and they admit Barry is hearder, but they only look at the grade, not the experience or information learned.

They advertise the CAL program for students with learning disabilites. The program is more then 5k a semester. Most colleges (by law) offer the same program, but it is free. Unless you are a theology major, if you have a learning disability, Barry will force you out.

There is conflict with many treachers and the actions of the director of disabilites for inaporprate comments.

If you are a white student with a european last name, do not apply to Barry. I came to the school with experience in scienctific research and anticipated entry into one of there research programs. I was refused an application. I was told it was only for minors. You can be white with blue eyes, but your last name must be of Hispanic descent. All 5 of the research programs are like that.

They also have classes that are not offered to the general student body. They are not listed on the web page or listed in a catalogue. I know about them because my friend is from Equador and she was in them. One of the classes help a student pass a grad school interview and one gave free material for the GRE. I know of one white American girl that was given an override to take the class. The teacher told her not to tell anyone.

The school is over priced, and they don't want to see or hear from the students. I had the director of students activities put me on a year long goose chase for a special dance. Barry does not have a tradition and we wanted to create one. After a year, I realized I was collecting supplies and building committees just to entertain the director. There was not a real desire, or a budget, to set up the event.

I could go one for day's and days. But let me end with this...... Go to Nova University if you want a small campus. It is 20 minutes away. The building is clean, new desk, no mold, however, I have never acutally attended the school as a student.

If you want a large school, go to FAU. It's much cheaper then the other schools and it seems to be alof of fun. My roomate is transferring there next year..... Leaving Barry. I am attending classes at FAU part time.I am in class right now, and I just got this iPad.... I hope the auto-spell checked worked.
