 | Quite Bright | IF you are reading this as a high school student or a undergrad thinking about coming here then let me just tel you this. Eckerd is a very unique college experience. In many ways a positive unique, and in a few ways negative. IT is an expensive school and as a result we do get a substantial percentage of the stereotypical rich kids. You know the ones; got C's and B's in high school and still got a brand new mercedes when they turned 16. Plenty of fake hippies from rich families who are more concerned about getting high and looking like they live "alternativly" instead of a true hippie mentality. As stated in this forum before however, the teching staff here is incredible. Amazing, accomplished, and intelligent professors with personalities to match. They have a deep desire to be a part of their student's success as professionals and as people. The administration and related employees however are a different story. They are deffinatly committed to their jobs of making the school look flawless from the outside and bringing in the money. I fit in here well because I am a low key personality who can get along with many different types of people. I'm sure you have heard about our drug reputation but in reality there are plenty of people who either do not smoke or are like me and save that type of thing for the odd day out on the weekend. You will be around it a lot but it dosn't mean that you cannot enjoy yourself as well. The party scene here does not go off every weekend. Some weeks it can be very quiet with only the small party here and there that are more like social get togethers rather that a frat orgy. We still have certain nights every couple of weeks where everyone is in one place and everything is going absoloutly insane. The point is that it is a good enviroment for a moderate induvidual who likes to have fun but is still trying to accomplish something. There is plenty of opportunity here to dive into the college experience. Between all the active clubs, sports, and activities available daily you end up feeling a little guilty if you sit in your room watching Netflix for too long. I was lucky to find a great group of guys who are all like me as far as our lifestyle choices go. We all had our own friends and aquantences but at the end of the night no one could split up the Zeta crew. I know others were not as lucky and I'll tell you now that if you cannot walk up to a group of people and start a honest conversation then you don't need to blame a college for not having "your type" of friends. I hear a lot of introverts complain about there only being rich druggies at this school but the truth is that thoae are the people who are either too shy or or too shallow or too easily discouraged to get out there and figure out that this school is full of great people. So if you decide you want to try this place on for size, come with an open mind, a respect for others choices, and a skateboard (the yellow bike program is shit, haha) | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Friendliness: D | | | |

| | Quite Bright | My educational experience at then Florida Presbyterian College was extraordinary and has greatly affected and enhanced my life ever since. This is a assessment deeply shared by many of my classmates in the early years of the college. | Starting Job: Researcher, Preparedness: A, Reputation: B+ | | |

| | Bright | I would tell anyone seriously interested in Eckerd College that it is worth the financial commitment. I can personally say that my life has been changed because of the experience I had there. Eckerd opened my heart, my mind and my consciousness to the realities of the world, the understanding of myself and my place in the world. I transfered from a state university to Eckerd and I can personally attest that my learning took a different direction at Eckerd. Eckerd does not process cookie cutter students, but rather adults that are willing to work towards change, willing to think outside of the box and destined to lead rather than follow. I have made life long friends with both my peers and professors. I have traveled internationally with Eckerd and have met diverse people from all over the United States and the world. If you are looking for a school that you can slide by and not get involved than Eckerd may not be for you. To really experience and enjoy Eckerd you must be willing to consider new ideas and philosophies and must be open and motivated to learning and discovery. Eckerd really changes lives and you have a lot of fun along the way! | Starting Job: just graduated, Preparedness: A+, Reputation: A+ | | |
