Super Brilliant
Well as an upcoming junior at EWC I wanted to leave and transfer to a different college. I was advised to stay at EWC by one of my Biology professors who I truly admire. My successes after graduating from Edward Waters College could bring about a change for the character of the school in the not so distant future. Beleiving in myself and thinking about the change I could bring and the impact I could have on others in life is the only thing that keeps me at EWC. The standard of education I must admit is second to none, the level, the passion, the drive and comittment that most of the professors have is second to none. At Edward Waters College, we have some of the top professors in the country teaching us. Some are graduates from Harvard, Stetson, Notre Dame, Universities in Africa and so many other prestigious institutions. Most of the time the quality of education at our school is based upon the criticism of students about their own school. We are all charged to 'be the change' that is needed to make our school better but it is the absent minded, immature 'really ghetto' students that make EWC seem uneffective. I love Edward Waters College and I plan to graduate from there. But those who fall along the way side are the ones who want to fall. Yes we still have young men and ladies who came to college just to get out of their parents house, who just want to party and go to football games and some only came just to pledge a fraternity or a sorority. My brothers and sisters, you must understand that those reasons are a bonus when enrolling in college The main focus should be to get in and get out with you you degree in hand; taking with you the knowledge and skills that you need to be successful in the job market in such a highly diverse, industrialized and quite competitve economy here in the United States. I am from The Bahamas, and I know what it feels like to be away for so long from the people I know and love and miss, it isn't easy. But I had to realize that my dreams go further than the Caribbean sea that The Bahamas is surrounded by. I had to move forward, and that is what we are expected to do in life...move forward toward our dream instead of staying in on place and not be destined to anything and remain mediocre and dumb. We are much more than that. I am presently on the Dean's List at EWC and I am very proud of myself. I have had many stumbling blocks in my way but I was and still am determined to make it through no matter what it takes. Every College and University will have some problems and conflicts or error whether it stems from standing on a long line during registration or 'cussin' out the lady at the financial aid office because she doesn't have your award letters. These things shall too pass and we as students need to look at the common good through all of it. Or president Dr. Jimmy Jenkins is working hard to raise the standard of EWC in the community. He strives to acheive the goal of getting funds for the college, and since I've been to EWC he's been doing a tremendous job at it. I commend him. So if you're thinking about attending EWC do your own personal research and pray that you make a good decision on what college or university you really want to attend. Whether you are a transfer student or a freshman, we need you at Edward Waters College. EWC has an open admission policy which means all are welcomed to enroll there.Last but certainly not least, we are rising stars at Edward Waters College, students, faculty and friends. Therefore if you choose to come to Edward Waters College, don't listen to the negative gossip, but come with a an open mind, a recptive heart and an eager spirit willing to learn ( lol along with ya money) and you can be one of our rising stars to!
