Quite Bright
FAU is a school to where it boils down to the students deciding their own destiny. FAU's administration could care less about you and that is a sad reality. Its very difficult to work for the university since its very selective for no reason.

Theres things to be involved with on campus but its not enough. The student life at FAU is weak compared to other colleges. Student life has started to improve but unless the students put more effort into it, it will continue to be below the bar.

Academics are pretty weak too. All your classes are just tests, online homework and bs assignments. The sad part about FAU is that its hard to make connections to anything here since important people rarely come to the college. Not to say that its impossible to make connections, but it definitely takes a big effort.

FAU is bad at sports but the school spirit is worse. Then again its hard when the FAU teams barely try and theres no disipline in them. The Football team speaks for itself, bball is slowly getting better but not there yet, Baseball is bad again, I could go on.

Boca is a pretty lame city but theres life in the surrounding cities. Its tough for those who can't travel or know the right people. Most people who go here always look to go away on weekends since nobody likes being here.Overall, FAU is a school with potential, but only as much potential as the students they get. Its a student ran university outside of facility. The students create the experience unlike the university normally doing more of the work.

Not so bright
I have attended FAU from 2005 to 2011, on and off. Although there were new changes (i.e. football stadium and medical school), I was never happy with FAU. Faculty is always rude, speaks to you in a condescending way and pretty much there for the paycheck. For example, I forgot to print my 2-page homework before leaving home. It was due on that day, and with no cash on hand, I thought that it would not be a big deal to ask a faculty member to print it for me. Needless to say, I went from department to department and was refused because it would cost them money. Really? Cost YOU money? You mean the tuition I spent per semester was not enough to cover for 2 sheets of printing paper? Finally, I was directed to the school's library where I was again denied due to the same reason. I had to BEG the receptionist to let me print the homework as the professor will not accept any work late. He finally gave in and helped me out.

Another example is when I called to get more information about graduate admission requirements for a specific program I was interested in. I asked the assistant if there were any advice she could give me to increase my chances of getting into the program (my GPA was .1 less than the minimum requirement). Her strict response was no and with my GPA, I should not even bother spending the time and effort to apply since they will not even consider me if I don't meet that GPA requirement. I also asked her, what about my volunteer work? What about my other achievements? Again, her response was no and all of those "achievements" are for naught.

In general, I do not recall any good professors except one, who was also a lawyer. I had asked professors for recommendation letters and I would get zero response or they would make a comment that they remember me succeeding in their class and then no letter. When I was out of the country, I had to email ALL academic advisors in my major more than THREE TIMES for an override to get into a class until someone responded with directions to the new Student Unlink site.

Almost all students are lazy, snobbish, pampered, and close-minded. I had a group project consisting of 6 members including myself. Only 3 students (myself included) did all the work and presentation. 2 of them did not even show up for presentation. One of them was dumb enough to add me on facebook and then post a picture of herself at the beach while we were in presenting our group project. Good thing the grade relied on student evaluations on each other. Bad thing is, most like that girl probably received a C and passed the course doing absolutely nothing for it because that is how easy the classes are. I had students complain on their first day how "hard" it's going to be just by reviewing the syllabus and that they are going to drop the course afterward. I have so many more horror stories about this place it's insane. I hate this school with a passion. I am applying for a different school to do my graduate studies. And finally, an Owl for a mascot? 'Nuff said.

Communications major here, but FAU definetly is a school to write about(especially the negative part) Ok heae let me start...

People: The people are snobby, disgusting, close-minded, haughty, clique-oriented, and rich arrogant people. The nice people also have some fakeness about them, and the people here know at least five people from their high school. The people dont really need to make friends because its mainly a commuter school(so mainly all the kids leave for the weekend) which sucks..

Area/Location: Around Boca Raton(if you locate the town in a map its in a very suburban part of town; typically old people live here so there is really no young feeling in the town. The town is also a rich area so if your poor good luck trying to fit in.

Faculty: Stupid, dumb, ignorant, and basically come from third world countries. I went to financial aid and they basically told me to go online. Not very friendly faculty members and most don't even speak English.

Class: Borring, easy, so much extra credit, and you really don't learn anything at FAU. The professors hand out freebies all the time, and people cheat all the time. You won't feel academically challenge here.

Demographics: White and Black. No diversity, and everyone hangs out with their kind of people. Nobody likes to make friends here. If Haiti is in Africa, than many people here really have no idea about culture or other parts of the world..

Work: Very Very Easy to find in Boca Raton. Most kids are rich so finding work here is very easy, because apparently these rich kids dont work.

Sports: Terrible. No tailgating or fun activities around here. There is a new stadium built right in the heart of FAU. But still school spirit is lacking and nobody really goes to the games because parking is terrible... Aghh and for parking....

Parking: Last but not least, Parking is HELL!!!! if your class starts at 8:00 a.m. make sure to come two hours early, thats right two hours early! beause by the time you make it to the parking lot you won't find any parking here..

Tickets: They give tickets all the time, and for the most absurd reasons. Make sure you come early to park so that you dont have to park by the grass. They don't mind handing out 30 dollar tickets.

Appearance of boys: Ugly, fat, and not goodlooking at all!( Most guys here all want sex, and they have no values or customs).Appearance of Girls: Slutty, rude, and mostly Boca whores who drive mercedes Benz and talk on their phones ALOT! Ow and don't forget the Black girls here, cause there's many!
