I can see how some people enjoy it here with the beach, the pretty people and the wealthiness. FAU is not like a regular college with traditions, out in nowhere,etc. Its in Boca Raton a retirement community with alot of retired business people and lots of wealthy professionals. If your not rich and white, its a tough place here. The school kind of discriminates in a non direct way towards minorities. When you come on campus you will see the division in the students. The students are clique.. Everyone stays within their own groups. FAU isnt liKe other campuses where students are friendly. Some people are friendly but theres alot of fake ppl here. The student body doesnt care about each other. I been involved in campus and students dont seem to be interested in anyone outside of their own cliques. Theres not really much of a sense of community here. The party scene is awful here. At college towns the cops dont bother u so much for drinking but here your parties get broken up alot. going to bars and clubs gets expensive and alot of sketchy ppl and non colllege students are usually there too. Althetics sucks our teams are mediocure and the school pride is low. We arent very dominant in the sun belt and the teams arent too dedicated towards getting better. The education is nothing special here. Some teachers are good but some love to waste your time. Most majors at FAU waste your time making you take alot of filler classes.My advice to anyone coming here is to make the best of your experience or transfer out. FAU is good for some but not for all. FAU is made up of 92% in-state. Floridians are certainly a different breed of people. Very strange. VERY different mentality than northerners. The girls here are either white trash, wannabe black girls, black girls, or more black girls. Sorority girls are not that hot but think they are. Guys here... not to many good lookers to be honest. At a school of nearly 26,000 you would think that there would be plenty, but nope. The jocks look good from behind, faces... not so much. AGAIN DO NOT COME FROM OUT OF STATE! TRUST ME. Freshman classes are easy, teachers are nice, dorms are pretty big, PARKING SUCKS!!! Parties are either huge frat parties with 300 sweaty disgusting people crammed together or a lame frat party with 20-30 guys that are NOT attractive. Honestly, people here seem to be a little strange. Certainly out of staters will make friends, but probably with other out of staters. If you get stuck with three roommates who are all from Florida you may be in trouble. It seems that everyone from Florida knows everyone else. Not a lot of diversity. Mainly black and white. Florida students seem dumb, especially the jocks. In-state tuition is cheap here and admissions are really easy so there are a lot of people who aren't especially smart or wealthy Surrounding City: A-, Individual Value: F Have a Question?
