Sure, I stood in that long line at Financial Aid and got the run-around a few times, but I think it made me the man I am. The world is not fair and things dont always go your way. It was the same at FAMU. But, if you worked hard and kept at it, you could get the job done. The school is well known for its teachings in Florida, but really known for the band elsewhere. The professors cared about you. They made sure you came away from their course with more than what was in the text. Of course, your participation was key; if you didn't take advantage of every opportunity, you probably have a different opinion of the FAMU experience. My years at FAMU taught me to be critical of everything and not to take "No" for an answer. If I had more time, I would have pursued a double major.
