| Bright | This is not a "Christian College" as advertised. It is for members of The Church of Christ only. It denies its status as a denomination, re-defining the term "denomination" to mean "a part of a whole". It claims to be the only true church, and as such cannot be a PART of the body of Christ...it IS the body of Christ! They go further and say members of "denominations" - Baptists, Methodists, Catholics, etc. are not a part of the body of Christ! You've been warned! | Preparedness: F, Reputation: F | | |

| Not so bright |
Florida College is a small close-knit community of people who attend the Church of Christ. Although they claim to believe the whole Bible, their biblical interpretation is quite far out and selective. The faculty and students are friendly, and it's a safe atmosphere.
Before coming to this college I had been told that it was a small Christian liberal arts college with high academic standards. That was all a joke. True, it's small. (less than 500 students) The religious beliefs are crazy though, and I'd recommend anyone to investigate just what they believe before attending. If you're a Church of Christ person, and your parents, grandparents, cousins and everyone else in your family has attended FC, this is I guess the place for you. As far as academic standards, I expected a lot more. It's easy to get high grades with little work required. What stinks is that you are only allowed to have a certain number of cuts in each class, so most of the classes are a waste of time and money. Also if you're looking for a learning environment forget it. I've found that the purpose of FC is to find a husband/wife and get married. There are few who care about academics. The honor society Phi Theta Kappa is also a joke seeing as once you're accepted, you do absolutely nothing!
Everyone is friendly and nice yet try to convince you that what they believe is right without backing it up. They claim salvation is not based on works, but then everything they say and do contradicts that. You’ll learn how to defend what you believe quickly, and if you’re willing to it will help you grow in your faith/beliefs.
Societies are good to join to meet more people and have fun playing intramural sports against the other societies. Each society meets once a week and has a devo during the meeting. Each night you can find a devo to attend if you want and there are also a lot of singing. (but they don't believe in having musical instruments) Dorm life is good for goofing off, but not studying.
The rules aren’t too bad, but just annoying. Room checks are once a week to keep rooms clean. Curfew (yes, it does claim to be a college) is at 11pm Sunday-Thursday and 12pm Friday and Saturday. Dress is modest and no shorts during classes. I really liked some of my teachers and classes are good just not really that challenging.
The campus is beautiful because it’s in Florida. The grounds are well kept, especially during lecture time. (which is when hundreds of old people and families swarm the campus) The food is also good at that time only. Chapel requires daily attendance. Since it is such a small college, you’ll know everyone by name or at least face. If you’re born a “falcon” and have no goals in life except to become a preacher/preachers’ wife then this is a good place to come meet a spouse. Don’t expect to receive a good education though. If you’re not raised as a “falcon” and expect FC to be a Christian college- don’t fall for it. Look elsewhere for a good education, but continue to grow in your faith. Trust God. | Faculty Accessibility: A, Education Quality: D- | | | |
