 | Average | Well before I start I just want to mention that I've lived in Miami my entire life. Now, FIU is a commuter school, so it will be active on campus during certain hours. Despite all the comments I've read, the campus isn't that big. If you walk all around campus it's mostly because you hose you're classes that way. The people that foot FIU talk mostly with the people they know. If you're shy and want to make friends you're going to have to ind a way to get over it, I know from experience. The faculty is like all the others it's got some that are good and some that are bad. Food-wise most of the junk food will be found in gc while the few healthy options we have are in pg5, which currently is a hassle to get to because of the construction detour. If you want parking get here at least an hour before your class starts. Traffic is horrible at certain times, and the cops make sure you go at the speed limit posted. Now even though its a commuter school, the people that live on campus seem to make friends with those around them. They're always planning events to enjoy the nightlife from what I've seen on our Facebook group. The surrounding city is pretty great compared to other cities only because we have a lot to offer. If you're a social person you'll grit in fine, if not you'll find some people that are more similar to you if you look hard. :) hope this helps. | Surrounding City: A+, Individual Value: D+ | | | |

| | Quite Bright | This is a good school, especially for law or business- which is what FIU is known for. However, it is a bit unorganized and at times frustrating. For example, with certain advisors, it can be a hassle to get an advising appointment. You really need to be self-motivated to succeed here. In terms of the campus itself, its nice and kept up well. It is huge though so get a pair of comfortable walking shoes. There's a ton of food to eat as well. Overall, i'd give this school a B-. | Useful Schoolwork: A+, Individual Value: B- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | I'm working on a second degree so I've pretty seen it all. Look, FIU is just like any other school --- your success will depend on you, and you alone. Professors are hit or miss; some are truly passionate about teaching, others are more interested in their side projects and act annoyed that they even have to teach. Get to know other students in your major and find out which professors are the best. If a bad professor can't be avoided, suck it up --- that's life! We don't always get to work with people we like. Do the best you can, meet your deadlines, and before you know it you will be on to your next semester. The world is not going to end if you get a C. I don't recommend that you live on campus, as others have said they are dead starting on Fridays. If you are a serious student, the constant activities in the dorms will likely get on your nerves. I mainly go to the BBC campus, which is far more manageable that the MMC campus. My only gripe with the commute to BBC is the charter school right next door, traffic can get ugly when parents are picking up or dropping off their kids. Plus there is the school zone to contend with from time to time. Some students are jerks, some are friendly. Again, that's life. My biggest complaint with FIU is the administrative staff, in a word: RUDE. Everyone from Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, etc. need a lesson in civility. I don't pay thousands of dollars a year to get mistreated. Constant runaround, conflicting information, you name it I've been through it. If you want something done properly, do it yourself, don't depend on other people. Overall, FIU isn't a bad university --- it just needs a little polish. Its the best public school option in South Florida and truly can be a rewarding experience if you make the effort. | Education Quality: B, Individual Value: D | | | |
