I received two degrees from MDC. I graduated in 2005 and 2006. I would recommend MDC to anyone for their first two years of college.

There are several negative postings here and much of it I cannot or will not dispute. However, many of the things they are commenting about you will find at any large institution. Yes, you will wait in LONG lines for admissions or financial aid. And the student interns they hire are rude and clueless.

The important thing is not to lose your focus and remember why you came to Miami Dade in the first place - to get your degree and move on. You will encounter rude and incompetent people everywhere so just keep pushing and GET YOUR DEGREE!

The first degree I received in 2005 was an AS degree. I have already received two fairly high paying job offers in the aviation industry. I already have a great job with a Fortune 100 company so I chose to stick with my current employer and work on more advanced degrees.

Bottom line is a degree is only part of the equation. You still have to be employable and marketable. If you possess these attributes and have the drive to finish what you started, a degree from MDC can only enhance your life and supply you with more opportunities.

Best of luck to all and don't take too much of the negative posts to heart. These are just written by people who will have a negative experience anywhere they go.

Miami Dade is not the place you want to go to if you want to have the "college experience." A lot of the teachers behave as if they don't even like teaching, and are very bias in their teaching (one English teacher would just go on and on about about how Fidel Castro is the devil and how George Bush is going to save America, lol). Most of the faculty and advisors are unhelpful when you need guidance, you have to get on their face in order to get ish done. There is no student social life in campus, and I doubt most students here have ever even read more than 1 book. The only positive thing about this college is that it allows you to have a flexible schedule, so it comes in handy if you have a part-time job. The only way that you can guarantee having decent classes and teachers is by going to ratemyprofessors.com when picking them out.

Miami Dade College is a good school to go to learn, but if you trying to get financial aid, you are out of luck. I have transfer to Broward College because Miami Dade would not gave me financial aid. Broward College is much easier to get Financial aid because they try to help you. When I try to get Financial aid from Miami Dade College, they gave me the run around and say that I have to pay out of my own pocket.

Not so bright
Wow, what can I say, from the horrible teachers that grade by prefrence to the evil financial aid office it's has to be the worst!
This school suffers from a horrible financial aid staff. They lose your papers, ask for them again and then lose them once more. Finally when they locate the papers, they take ages to load the information onto the system. You are left waiting for months. As of yet, I still do not have my financial aid ready, and it is so late in the year. Then they never answer the phone and when they finally do they dont know what is going on. They add you on a list and never call you back or let you know if it is being resolved or not. They sound angry when you ask for the reason for something they have done themselves. They are rude and very inconsiderate. I have no wish to deal with them again and would advice the school to take notice of this problem. I am not the only student that is going through this.
