 | Quite Bright | | I just finished up my first semester at the palm beach campus, and I have to say, this college is not bad at all. People are friendly, there's a wide range of people from different backgrounds so you'll find people to get along with. Campus is not too bad, bathrooms are kept clean, classrooms are just fine. There are some fine ladies walking around, no doubt about it. Some handsome fellas as well for the ladies reading this. I used ratemyprofessor.com, and have had great teachers for all 4 of my classes. I'd suggest using that site and registering for classes within the first few days that registry opens up so that you don't get stuck with a crap professor who makes life difficult for you. I have a 4.0 average so far, and while I most definitely had to do work to get that, it wasn't obscene or overly difficult at all. Do the work, go to class, you'll get b's and a's. The student learning center is really helpful, the math lab is helpful. The campus is laid out pretty intuitively, I had no problem finding my way around without going to orientation or anything. The advisors here are great, most definitely take advantage of them. No one is going to baby sit you here, it's up to you to make stuff happen and plan out what your doing/why your there. I'm planning on getting a 4.0 average and transferring to a good school. I've spent time at Suffolk University and Bunker Hill CC in Boston, and Palm Beach State is on par with both. I actually like it better than either of them.So in conclusion, if your looking for an AA, this is a great place to do it. I'd imagine you could do worse than a bachelors degree from here, but I see no reason not to transfer to a higher tier school and get the bachelors there. It's cheaper to get it from PBSC, but it doesn't have the allure say, UMiami does, when your searching for jobs. | University Resource Use: A+, Campus Aesthetics: C+ | | | |

| | Super Brilliant | Palm Beach State college sucks. David Cammack contradicts hisself for one. He would rather see his students with bad grades, not the grades the students aim for and want which are A's. Learning is indeed a major part, but depriving students of the grade they want for which they aim for is not beneficial and does not motivate most students to try harder. Giving the students bad grades makes the students drop out and give up. When students drop out and give up, the school looses money regardless of the students method of payment to the school. The key is to get students to learn the material being taught in class in preparation for the real world work-field and not depriving students of the grade they want for which they are aiming for at the same time. It is the teachers responsibility to help the students learn, to help the students succeed, and to help the students get the course grade they are aiming for. In this process the students learn. A challenging process not depriving students of grades they aim for and want as the end result they work hard for. | Campus Maintenance: B, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | I was surprised by PBCC. I found the administration to be helpful although somewhat swamped in unneccessary processes and requirements. The faculty for the most part are smart and helpful, and in my experience they want you to do well and they will facilitate your success. Compared to nearby FAU which is much more expensive, I felt lucky as my friends were tossed into 300-person lecture classes with varying degrees of being able to understand their professors (not just language-wise, but what the professors wanted academically!). My classes here are small--under 30-40. I really like that, and I get individual attention.I spent a semester at a large state school and learned next to nothing. At PBCC, though it does not extend past 2-year requirements, I actually learned everything taught in my classes. | Faculty Accessibility: A, Useful Schoolwork: F | | | |
