 | Quite Bright | SCAD comes across as a great school, and it has an ability to be a great school, unfortunately it isn't. The school pumps more money into promoting the school than preserving the relationship with their current students. SCAD provides opportunities for extra curricular trips but you have to be selected for it, which limits the already limited trips that are available. The dorms are terrible and they have terrible maintenance. SCAD is more about the money than anything else. I understand its a business but there is a point where you have to respect the people paying you. The majority people that work in the offices are former SCAD students, so that says something. SCAD is great if everything works in your favor, if not it can be a nightmare. Making friends is very difficult unless you are always partying or doing drugs. Also as a straight male it is very difficult because there are few girls that are normal, and you always have other gay men hitting on you since the majority of guys here are gay. Its a rough school and I'm only here because they have a very specific minor that I am looking for but if any other school offered it I would be there in a heartbeat. | Scholastic Success: A, Individual Value: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | First off, I will say that I am a writing major here at SCAD. I know, strange to be attending an "art" school yet taking a class that is not visual arts oriented. However, I will say that I find all the professors I have encountered in the writing as well as liberal arts departments extremely intelligent, kind and helpful. I'm not the greatest at visual arts--but I do have a liking for them more than the "average" student--therefore I got along in my foundations classes quite well. I am also a painting minor, but I haven't explored that very far yet. My one large complaint concerning SCAD is my fellow students. Expect to meet a lot of people very concerned with appearances, clothes, fashion, and attitude. Most have adopted the "aloof" approach to socialization. It is not popular to be kind here, or to exhibit any kind of school-spirit or camaraderie. I've made one close friend from a class, and one from my first year in the dorms. Everyone else I've met has been either way too into drugs and partying to be friends with long term, or they have been simply too into themselves to become close to. I wish I could say kind people go to this school who are interested in making friends, but instead all I can say is SCAD is making me cold-hearted and bitter. This has resulted in ME getting an aloof attitude toward socialization!Anyway, I love my major, I adore my professors, and I think it's really a great fit for me--but only academically. | University Resource Use: A+, Social Life: F | | | |
