SCAD isn't a walk in the park, butQuite BrightOther
SCAD isn't a walk in the park, but if you are passionate about what you do you will succeed. They tend to have a reputation for being a more career driven school, which is true. If you want a design job, though, SCAD will give you the means. They do a really good job of preparing you for the real world and teaching you how to network successfully.

The food is not that great, but if you buy snacks and maybe a rice cooker while on the block meal plan, you'll be fine. Housing is pretty nice, considering even the less desirable ones have a private bathroom. Residence Life and Housing also tries to help with any roommate issues and offers programs; not crazy parties or anything, but movies and game nights can be fun.

If you are undecided about your major or career choice, SCAD will be difficult until you figure it out. Many of my friends dropped out Freshman year because they couldn't handle it. If you have a good work ethic and are not going to just party, you will get a great education.

Question
People who say SCAD is terrible didnt giveBrightArchitecture
People who say SCAD is terrible didnt give it a chance. . . freshman year sucks! Foundations isnt what you went to scad for. . . intro classes isnt what you went to scad for. I struggled so much my first year and a half at scad, but once I got into my studio classes I remembered why I came to SCAD. I finished all 6, 5 hour interior design studios. They were hard, VERY hard, I didnt have a social life outside of my studio. But my final quarter at SCAD I didnt have any ID studios left and I really missed them. The girls that were in the program are probably the most amazing girls I have ever met. I honestly dont think Ive ever met nicer more genuine people before. Everyone at SCAD is so talented regardless if they are lazy or not. I dont consider myself an artist, I cant draw, but I can design like no other! SCAD is amazing and some of the professors go way beyond to help you succeed. Anyone that says otherwise is lazy and not taking advantage of their resources. I do admit that SCAD is all about images and will tell you anything to come to the school, and they dont use all the money we pay to come here they way it should be used, but at the same time were a top art school for a reason. And we made it to the top in just 30 years that its been around thats saying a lot. Paula Wallece sucks beyond belief but ill admit the school the co created is amazing and Im so sad its over.

On March 23, 2008 SCAD freshman student Meagan Petry fell 65 feet from the fifth floor of Turner House at 302 W. Boundary Street, Savannah, Georgia. The accident occurred when the aluminum balcony railing broke away from the railing support system causing Meagan Petry to fall through the open balcony onto the grass embankment. The Turner House construction was completed in late August/early September 2001. Since the accident Meagan Petry has endured 27 operations. The D?Amato Law Firm (damatolawfirm.com) is representing Meagan Petry through this civil litigation and is asking former students & employees to contact the case investigators and provide any information that may be helpful toward a fair and reasonable resolution.
