Wow I left a review and it got deleted, just goes to show. Anyway I just wanted to say that I look back on attending this school as a very painful period in my life, the locals here are very snobby because it is a very small town environment, I was so glad I had my boyfriend to look after me and will always be grateful for looking out for me when I came to school here, some of the worst memories of my life were made here, I don't want my comment deleted again but you've been warned. Valdosta State isn't perfect but it's safer and not as far in the middle of nowhere so if you are from South Georgia I would recommend there instead.

Easy to get in, hard to make good grades unless you are one of the area's three favorite names. Not putting down those names or anything like that. Just know it's reallllly small and most people will not talk to you unless you're a local-not just the city but the little area people commute in from. I lived in the dorms and no one would talk to me because I wasn't a local, there was a lot of homophobia there which is something to watch out for if you're gay (I'm not, not that it matters, just letting people know.) People like to smoke out and parties and if you don't do that or play I think it's still softball or tennis if you're a girl and baseball or soccer if you're a guy, then no one will talk to you. So you won't fit in unless you are straight, smoke out, are a jock, and are in within a one hour's radius of this college. Being from one of the good families helps too. I found it impossible to make friends here (I'm female) the women were very vindictive and everyone seems to be paranoid about losing their boyfriend, and that's an important thing because most people seem to be there to meet their spouse or whatever as the old Southern cliche. I hope I haven't offended anybody, well maybe not, I'm from Valdosta and most people were really rude. 100% of the girls and the guys were cool but now none of them are allowed to talk to me :( bc of their women and that's ok, I understand. (And no it wasn't like that and no reason for anyone to be jealous.) Three words to define SGC are CONNECTIONS, HOMOPHOBIA, AND JEALOUSY. Everyone of the same sex will be worried about you hitting on them or taking their spouse, for no reason on both counts. Ok let's just say the word of the day for Douglas is jealousy. Unless you meet someone to date up there don't even bother, impossible to make friends, hang out...some bullying not to mention snootiness of the locals, although not as much of a hard drug problem to avoid as in the Valdosta area, bad neighborhoods in both. Peace out, sorry if you're from there and not like this (you'll know if you're not) and thanks for reading. Oh and I'm not kidding-the professors know the locals/moneyed locals by name and if you're not one of them they will try to mess up your grades, I had to petition a couple of mine. The overall attitude I got was "you're from Valdosta and not here to play ball what are you doing here?" Well my parents chose my school and I was too young to protest thanks :( and thank you all for all the great memories...not
