Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Fellow students stay tuned.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Fellow students stay tuned. Big lawsuits will be lost in the coming months due to illegal dismissals of male students, employees, and a trustee by the administration. Donors not giving due to the idea their donations would be used to pay off these lawsuits instead of helping the students and the university. New building and programs to pay for. Declining enrollment. Less money for scholarships. How will this all shake out for us students especially for new students that need the university to be around for 4 or more years.

Question
As I start my senior year, I wantQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
As I start my senior year, I want to share why I should have never attended Drake. Private colleges operate under their own set of rules and do whatever they want. You always feel like you are walking on egg shells in your interactions with others. Public/state colleges operate under state and federal laws. If there are any situations that private colleges don't like then you are dismissed even if it doesn't break a law. Several fellow students have been burned by this. Students don't think about this until they get into a sticky situation that could impact their college education. Don't be na've and think this would never happen to me since I know others have thought that and they are no longer here. These individuals have to start all over at another college which has a new set of requirements. Some new colleges may not accept you since Drake may have tarnished your record on the way out the door then college may not be an option going forward. I just wanted others to be aware of the burden of having this on your mind as you attend Drake. I don't want to say all private colleges are like this since it may just be Drake is worse than the rest.

Question
Just a warning for incoming fellow students sinceQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Just a warning for incoming fellow students since this has happened to a few of my good friends. I wanted to wait until I graduated and had my diploma in hand to give this review. If you get called into the Dean of Students office start looking for a new college. All it takes is one student to make an accusation against you and you are done. It is a scary time under this current Dean of Students. He lacks the understanding of due process, sticking to the facts, and listening to all the evidence. He makes sure that the student has very little rights during the process. His final decisions are based on his biased hunches. Much of his student dismissals have been learning by trial and error at the expense of the students. He has a higher degree of learning but this doesn't mean he is trained on how to handle these situations where he is judge, jury, and prosecuting attorney. His dismissals would not stand up in court and don't go to court except on the other side for the few brave students that have parents with deep pockets that will easily win lawsuits against Drake. For those brave students this takes time and they have to put their lives on hold while the process plays itself out in their favor. Keep in mind this could happen to you just weeks or months away from graduation and you would have to start over again at another college that may have a different set of requirements for graduation. Don't fool yourself into thinking this would never happen to me since I know that is what my friends thought that are no longer at Drake.
