University is great, only problem is understanding some instructors for some of the core classes.

Question
Iowa State has an absolutely beautiful campus andQuite BrightLanguage - French/Spanish/etc.
Iowa State has an absolutely beautiful campus and the people are very friendly. The surrounding area of Ames can get pretty boring especially if you come from a larger area (Welch ave is about the only option for night life other than house parties or frats). But, if you want the "real college experience" you can definitely get it here. Ames is the definition of a college town. The Spanish department has a very helpful and friendly staff. Unfortunately there aren't many native speakers (you are in the middle of Iowa keep in mind) but they do there best to provide a comprehensive language education. The academic advisers are not very helpful however, so I would recommend keeping track of your own schedule and requirements rather than depending on them to help you graduate in four years.

Question
Don't live on campus if you can avoidBrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Don't live on campus if you can avoid it. The housing contracts have large penalties if even withdrawing well in advance. The contracts are page after page. Classes aren't scheduled when you can get meals (I wasn't able to eat dinner most of the time due to my class schedule without going far away to a meal hall). Dorms are a joke. If you like being a sardine and just a number. Live on campus. Much more expensive. Oh and they put freshmen in online math classes too while you're living on campus (pretty smart - they make money off of you to live in the dorms and don't give you face-face instruction). It happens because freshmen are the last to get to sign up for classes. After they hook you in -- signing you up for the first year... watch out.
