ISU doesn't feel likeAverageFinance
ISU doesn't feel like a university. Its small, some of the building are outdated. There are WAY to many mormons, it feels like a religious school.

Question
I attended and graduated from Idaho State UniversityAverageEngineering Department
I attended and graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Survey and Geomatics Engineering. The Survey and Geomatics program could be so much better then it is. There is a lot of missed opportunities to learn in this program due to Professors being there to long and not teaching, to some that do not know how to operate equipment or software that is needed to complete assignments. Teaching is about non existent in this program. Classes do not go the entire scheduled time, maybe half to a quarter of that time scheduled you are in class. Assignments are poorly explained. Questions in class are frowned upon by one Professor in class and he will gladly tell you so. I very strongly encourage future students who want to go into Survey and Geomatics Engineering not to attend Idaho State University, instead attend a different college that offers this program. You will be wasting your time and a lot of money if you attend ISU.

Question
Let's face it, Pocatello is a college town,Quite BrightArt & Design Department
Let's face it, Pocatello is a college town, not LA or Chicago. This I found to be a positive as I was after an education and not a party. The campus is well maintained, though the parking is really bad. The general ed classes were well taught.

The Art department I graduated from, well, ranks pretty low compared to the art program in California I transferred from, and gained the majority of my art knowledge.

Most of the professors couldn't earn a living from their art if they tried, so therefore they teach. Sadly, they don't do that very well either. The two exceptions being Tony Martin and Dr. Miles Friend.

The secretary of the department is obnoxious, and they only seem to keep her around because she's developed a system only she can figure out. In reality, she seems to think and act like she's the dean of the department.

Gail Dial, the true dean, seems incapable of hiring qualified people to teach. Of course, they all seem to suffer from the problem most college proffesors have, no one ever taught them how. You don't need a teaching certificate to teach college, only High School and below. Why is that?If you want an education in art in Eastern Idaho, go to BYUI in Rexburg, where the competiton is stiff to teach, so they only get the best, or Utah State University. Both have art programs that beat the pants off ISU. Sadly for you party animals out there, these schools are also there to give you an education, not a good time.
