There are exceptions, but some professors seem to care more about research than quality effort into teaching. The only good teachers I've had here taught part time or as a side job. If there are good teachers, good luck getting them, because scheduling is very inflexible. You will often get a teacher you do not want and very few sections of a class are available. Campus police are very unethical. More importance appears to be placed on drinking and parking tickets instead of safety, even though Bradley is right in the middle of a bad part of town. On a positive note, theyre renovating a lot of stuff and improving facilities, but pretty buildings doesn't fix the previously mentioned problems. Their career center also seems genuinely interested in seeing you succeed. I highly suggest anywhere but here! Campus Maintenance: A, Social Life: F Have a Question? As an engineering student, I am constantly comparing Bradley to other universities, like Purdue, UIUC, and Marquette, and have found that Bradley has something that those places lack: a sense of family. Cheesy, I know, but that sense of family is something that immense state universities can never offer, but is something that is essential to a successful educational environment. The faculty truly cares about your success, and is willing to help you work towards your future. Sure, it isn't Harvard, but the teachers make it just as challenging as the big public schools. Peoria without a car is a boring wasteland, but there is plenty to get involved in on campus. The main reason that I chose Bradley was because of the MONEY! I'm paying less right now than I would be at Midwestern public universities! If you have a decent head on your shoulders they'll throw a ton of money at you to get you to come here, and it is definitely WORTH IT! So if you want to have faculty that speak English, never have a T.A., and have an overall great educational experience, there is no better place than Bradley. The surrounding neighborhoods are dark and seemingly dangerous at night on weekdays and weekends. Plus the Bradley crime page puts up all the incidents that occur on campus and a lot of the time it seems that "unidentifiable" men attack at random so keeps you on your toes. Also, being "smart" bradley decided to not invest in a van transportation system for students like most schools but instead got two students at night to walk around with reflective vests to make sure all was safe. WOW. I would also have to agree that greek life is a large part of bradley's social aspect and the present president of bradley has done a fine job of killing that fun... also the greek community tends to get yelled at most of the time if a student gets hurt or dies according to alcohol or anything even if they didn't have anything to do with it...still get punished. The city sucks and I would personally not go here again if I had a second chance. If you are education go to isu. Engineering, u of i. History, somewhere else. Great classes and teachers ( at least in my department ) were all experienced and for the most part want to help. Campus life is pretty good. I think its a lot tougher now to have fun till your 21 since they no long have calling out for the greeks and the under 21 bars no longer exist. But Peoria is a town where you can drunk at the bars for under $20 ( good luck doing that in Chicago ). I was reading another review and they were correct about the apparel of the student body. Almost all of the girls wear sweat pants and hoodies. Not the most attractive campus but fortunately there is a community college about twice the size across the river where they take a little more time on appearance than in education lol jk. Great social life and you don't have to be in the Greek community to have fun. I wasn't involved with the Greek world and still had a great time. Just grow some balls and go into the party. Good school for financial aid as well. Bradley might be priced higher than others at the start but if you had a decent GPA in high school Overall this is a great school for almost every major. Good social life and Bradley is updating almost the entire campus ( brand new rec center, i had to lift in the basement of Hausler which is a hot, smelly, sweat box) so good news for incoming students.
