Not so bright
Chicago State University is one of the best schools anyone could ever attend. It provides a WHOLE lot of opportunities for students to grow and succeed. I've been to other schools before CSU, and I happened to discover this overlooked terrific school. The professors are great, the students are great, the coursework is challenging--basically, this school is amazing. I speak with a lot of students about whether they like CSU or not, and they all tell me that they love it! You will not regret coming to this school!

Chicago State University has undergone some MAJOR Academic as well as Administrative Changes in the past 2 years and they have been very positive. The wonderful professors do not get the respect they truly deserve. We have great research going on in our biology department and an new aquaponics facility to promote aspects of inner city sustainability. As you can see,I am a biology major. People complain about classes being easy, but that has not been the case for me,I HAVE been challenged.

Chicago State University has put me in positions I would not have otherwise had. I interned at Argonne National Laboratory's division of Chemical Sciences and Engineering and also Pritzker's school of Medicine at the U of C where I was later hired as a result of the work I had done. No once, while I was competing against people from Ivy league schools and other well known institutions across the nation did I feel as though I was not academically on the same playing field.

I understand many student's frustration with some of the other students who simply don't appreciate the opportunities here or the very few professors who may be frustrated and burned but it is also our responsibility to challenge ourselves.

Also, accreditation is up for review around every 13 years, this is no surpise, we have NEVER lost our accreditation once in the history of the university. Unfortunately all we get is bad press thoug, due to personal vendettas some people in the media have with some of our higher ups. So you don't get to see or hear any of the wonderful or positive things happening at Chicago State University.

So I understand why people might see us in a bad light, but you cannot take 14 negative comments into stock with a student body of over 3,000. maybe its not always about what CSU gives you, but what you put into it as well. No one talks about how many pharmacists, engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Politicians, etc, that come out of CSU. We have ALOT. So, As I walk across stage I KNOW I will have earned my degree. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way.-Neffer

Chicago State University is a JOKE!
Some people will say that SOME programs are good here but I disagree because the general educations classes that every student has to take is so lacking its no way a program at this school can be at a REAL university level academically.

I transfered into chicago state from another university and quickly figured out this was NOT going to be a challenge and the rest of my Undergrad experience would be a cake walk. I never studyed and rarely bought the assigned book for classes because teachers allowed so many excuses from students. The sad part is that many students that spend their entire college career at Chicago State has NO IDEA what a true college experience is and probaly never will.

I will only recommend Chicago state as a last ditch effort for a guanteed Degree, before they lose they acreditatinIf your transfering from Chicago State to another NON HBCU becareful because your painfully handicapped.
