Chicago state university does offer a quality education to those who chose to push themseleves and take their educatio seriously. But unfortunately, due to the lenient admissions standards, CSU is infested with inept, loud, and obnoxious students that distract serious students and professors, and give the university a bad reputation. There are some exceptional students at CSU, and the campus is beautiful. I would not recommend this school to out of state students unless interested in an atheletic program because the majority of the students here are chicago residents, CSU doesnt really offer the social factors of the college experience. I would recommend CSU to students who reside in Chicago and the surronding areas, because it is an accredited university where you can excel and learn a lot if you apply yourself and ignore the occasional retarded student who was excepted with a 2.0 gpa out of high school.

There are various perceptions of Chicago State University, many that are unkind and negative. The truth about Chicago State University is that it is just like any other University in the Country, filled with problems, but is not totally a bad place. Now I will not deny the fact that Chicago State students are majority the nontraditional college age, there are alot of students with Children, as well as the school does not have very high standards for enrolling new students. But the one thing that Chicago State lacks and would make this University more productive and a pleasent place to be is accountability. Students as well as faculty dont take responsability for there actions and as a result this school is not what it should be. Especially on the students behave. The fact that Chicago State is veiwed negativly puts students in the wrong mind set before they even set foot on to this campus. And upon arrival when they experience all the bad just forces them into that cycle of not coming to school to learn and better oneself but instead flunk out. I could go on and on about Chicago State but that would be pointless because this University will not get better until the students become of greater quality. The students make the school and how bad a school is a reflection on the students they bring in. It just suck that for every great student of Chicago State 100 terrible one are known and darken the shinning off the good student.

I chose to come here out of a quick decision, but now I regret it and wish that I had went back to community college and took more time to look at other schools. Before going here, I had an aunt who said that I shouldn't go here because most places don't offer jobs to Chicago State graduates. My aunt said the middle school she subs at turns down all jobs desired by Chicago State graduates. Well, I ignored what she said and registered here anyway. Now I'm rethinking if I should transfer to another school, and I think I will.

The demographics here are mostly Black. There are the occasional Asians and Whites who are mostly all foreign. The architecture of the school is really pretty. It seems like they're really trying to bring the school up aesthetically, but beautiful architecture doesn't help a school's rep. As soon as you step out of campus, it's pure filth. I wouldn't walk around this neighborhood during anytime of day. It's a "bad neighborhood." Mostly everyone that goes to this school is a commuter and I don't see how the kids who live in the dorms get out. There's nothing outside of the campus to do, but go buy liquor from the co-naH sto (corner store).

So, all in all, I would say that this school is for:

- baby mommas (they offer daycare)
- people over the age of 40 who are already settled in a career and desire degrees just because
- getting a few "easy" courses out of the way to satisfy a degree at another school- hoodlums
