The faculty are very helpful and I've really enjoyed all my classes. One great thing about the program is that you don't have to choose a certain track (i.e. broadcasting or print)...you can take classes in all disciplines. The College of Communication is great...everyone is friendly and the classrooms are beautiful. I had the choice to go to Northwestern's grad program but I picked DePaul so I wouldn't have to decide between print and broadcast. I'm totally happy with my decision, I couldn't have found a better graduate department with such great professors and other students. Oh, and they have really strong relations with Chicago companies which makes finding jobs and internships much easier. | | May 10 2012 | Journalism | | |

| | | This graduate program is full of incredible faculty who really cared for me! They are experts in pediatrics, intensive care, and in research and theory. It was challenging and the faculty expect a lot of hard work. I learned about doing a research project and how to really care for patients and about community work. The only bad thing is the night classes. | | Oct 18 2011 | Nursing | | |

| | | I enrolled in the Department of Nursing graduate program. I would like to stress DEPARTMENT. The program is sub par at best. An administrator assistant, "Christine" runs the department and there is no organization. As a professional nurse, I am surprised that this program is accredited through any organization. Instructors do not return emails or calls and individual programs of study have been phased out. Students do not receive any notification when a program is phased out. Instructors leave the department for other universities and I do not blame them. I am now attending Loyola and have experienced what a real Nursing School is like. Please attend a Nursing school that is well organized and where the faculty responds to the students. You will not find this with DePaul's nursing department. | | Aug 26 2010 | Nursing | | |

| | | The MENP program is disorganized. 75% of what I have learned at least has come from memorizing text books, not from a teacher's mouth. The teachers are horribly, horribly rude...almost all of them. They seem to hate teaching us. I will provide an example: one of the courses I am in now has three professors teaching it and none of them have posted office hours (all "by appointment"). I emailed the professor FOUR days ago to make an appointment. He has not even responded to my email. I believe that as grad students, we should be getting more one-on-one time than in undergrad, not less. In retrospect, I would not go to DePaul for nursing. | | Jun 28 2010 | Nursing | | |

| | | The Master's Entry Nursing Program (MENP) is a disaster. Nothing is organized, they are always changing the schedule, and you will be constantly frustrated with last minute class requirements. Don't trust anything they say about how you can work and have a family with this program. The attitude of instructors is that you don't have a right to object to anything they throw at you because they are "giving" you a Master's Degree. There is no respect for students. | | Jan 18 2010 | Nursing | | |

| | | I wouldn't go to Depaul again if given the chance, and that is a big statement coming from someone like myself. I did my undergraduate degree at a very large Big Ten University (U of MN - Twin Cities) so I was used to plenty of red tape, and other nonsense. Depaul was far worse than anything I ever experienced at the U of MN, which is ironic being that the U has several thousand more students. It was a consistantly miserable experience. Advisors that don't return e-mails or phone calls, lost files, lost papers and assignments, poor resources for students (don't let them tout the U-Pass if you are in the Graduate School of Education... you aren't eligable despite being one of the most mobile groups of students on campus. It was mind-boggling. I wrote to the dean, and she never wrote me back....) Overall, I don't advise coming here. | | Jan 04 2006 | Education | | |

| | | I did my M.A. at DePaul, and also took some undergraduate courses. The faculty was generally good. There are some really stand-out professors, especially in regards to teaching. The facilities are excellent, and the school is easy to get to via public transportation. Unfortunately, it is very much a commuter school, and the campus shuts down at night. Students have virtually no school spirit and are generally introverted. It is very dificult to meet people at DePaul, but if you try really hard, you can have some success. This gets harder in graduate school. At one point during my stay there, some activist students took control of the student newspaper and threatened students (simply because the newspaper used the term "black" instead of "african-american." It was a national embarrassment, and the administration made it worse through capitulation. The incident created an atmosphere of animosity on the campus which lasted for months afterwards. | | Jan 19 2005 | English | | |
