Not so bright
If you dont like trash athletes try to not be on the same floor as them. Apparently when they group together they think they can get away with anything. Here they forget you go out and party and if you live in the dorm you dont come back and do stupid stuff you come back to sleep and sober up till the next night. Apparently they didnt get the memo on that. Other than that its a nice school, good teachers and a pretty nice environment. All the other students are pretty nice and youll def meet people youll become good friends with. Definitly better then NIU, WIU etc in Illinois. Id either go here or ISU. Hopefully EIU and ISU can keep out all the problems that NIU and WIU and other Illinois school have.

Bright
I would never recommend this college to anyone. My experiences there were bad even though I graduated with honors. They were pathetic little people who tried to crack the whip and make you tow the line with intimidation. What a joke-especially after the hazing death in 1970.

I had a few good teachers that I will always remember--a zoology teacher, an English teacher, and a psychology teacher who were all amazing and could have worked anywhere.

I worked hard and had the grades to show it. But how I wish I would have gotten out of there after the first year. I would imagine it has changed a lot since I graduated way back then--I would hope so.

I really liked EIU because of the atmosphere, and the fact that I was a special ed major made it especially appealing.

The classes are really no harder than your average high school class, if anything I'd say high school was harder. The course work is mostly busy work and then that just builds up to a test...I didn't go to my psych class for 3 weeks and still got a B on the test and a B in the class.

The night life is really only good if you go to the bars, but you'll just end up blowing a ton of money, and they close at 1 anyways so you're stuck after that.

You honestly really have no hope of making many friends unless you go greek, and unless you get into one of the top sororities or frats, you're just going to be judged by everyone.

The food isn't that bad, but the dorms suck. You can't change rooms or floors unless it's an extremely serious issue or "judicial". The school isn't flexible and the advisors are not very good at their jobs.Overall, I just wouldn't go to EIU, I plan on transferring next year!
