Prin is not for you if your out of state, not as religious as others, and don't know what its like being away from home. Many of the students here are international students. I have not seen 1 party on the campus so that could be a good thing for some, however there are dances with dj's and such, but if you dance wrong you will be frowned upon. So social life, unless you went to the upperschool or a summer CS camp, you will be fine. If you are new and don't know anyone.. DONT COME HERE! I haven't made 1 close friend yet, and I just havent clicked with any other the people here at all. These people are so sheltered and they don't know what the outside world is like. The food is decent.. they try to trick you and make it look like they have good food on visiting weekends but they really don't. The christian science practice here is amazing though, you aren't forced to go to church, and not forced to par take in quiet time. The dorms are nice, but some don't have AC. There is NOTHING to do in the city Alton, which is a 25 min drive, and St louis is about an hour away. My weekends consist of laying in bed and doing nothing because there is never anything going on at this school. Sounds like I am saying all negative things, but i am entitled to an opinion. All the facilities are fabulous. The students and faculty are all nice and friendly. Unfortunately, the academics and academic counseling are sub-par. Job recruiters for graduating seniors are nil. In short, If you want a fun, enjoyable, recreational college experience, it's a great place; if you want an actual college-level education and degree that will get you a decent job after graduation, go somewhere else. I think that is the advantage of small liberal arts colleges. I didn't make as much use of it as I could have. One thing I did wrong in attending Principia was to transfer in when I was an upperclassman. I think a person should try to attend the same school for four years if possible. I no longer an a Christian Scientist and the religious services and related activities at Prin made me realize that I did not believe in Christian Science then either.
