Attending UIC was a mistake. I lived with relatives in the suburbs of Chicago and commuted daily to the school. It was at the time a commuter school with no dorms at all. The daily commute was a grind and there was little to no opportunity to make friends on campus. The campus, while located in a vibrant city, is a depressing concrete jungle. You do get to experience a diverse student body and to that extent there are some positives. Overall, I'd say if you want a real college experience with an active student life and the opportunity to make friends and enjoy college, then stay away from UIC.

Super Brilliant
UIC puts up a positive outer shell but often really focuses more on attracting new students than on taking care of the students they have. For example, despite budget cuts, they have been spending oodles of money on beautifying the school but don't have enough money for supplies and repairs that the students really need.

This school is HELL ON EARTH!!! Do not come here under any circumstances. NO one speaks english, everything is way too expensive. And the students are unfriendly, arrogant, and completely stuck-up the rear end!!! You will never meet friends (i havent in my 2 yrs so far), and its all about the frats. You are just a number to the staff, no one cares about you AT ALL. I have never experienced such lonliness, voidness, and isolation. There is not one good thing about this place. I must warn all that going 2 UIC is stepping into the pits of HELL.
