I really love UIC. I am currently a freshman and live on campus. Yes, UIC is a commuter school and a lot of people do not live here, but I have found the most amazing friends and people in the residence halls. The key to having a great time at UIC is to GET INVOLVED!!! The people who are saying that the social life sucks and do not have any friends are probably the people who are too afraid to go to clubs, meetings, etc. If you are open and friendly its really no problem!

I am in greek life as well. This helps a lot with the party life and getting to know a ton of people. If you want a super social experience, rush in the fall or spring! You won't regret it.

As for the campus, I think it's okay. There is a lot of concrete and our 'quad' is just a block of cement, but when the trees and flowers are in bloom it is amazing to look up at the sears tower and see all the beautiful views.

I've also noticed that a lot of people talk about how diverse it is, and YES, it is very diverse! This frightened me a bit in the beginning since I grew up in an upper-class white suburb. But I ended up loving it! It is awesome getting to know new people that I wouldn't have talked to before coming here.

Overall I love it here at UIC. We may not have big football games and a sorority row like U of I and other big ten schools, but just being able to hop on the train and go anywhere in the city is amazing to me.

Quite Bright
UIC is a substandard university with poor facilities and library resources. Do not waste your family's wealth going to this school. One big problem is the low caliber of students; too many kids with 21-25 ACTs, act entitled and are lazy. 50% of the students who start do not get a degree in 6 years. I have heard from Profs. that they regularly give F's and D's to 50% of the class because of the chronic poor performance. UIC is an embarrassing place and not of the same caliber as UIUC; do not waste your time and money on this sh-thole!

Not so bright
In one line. "UIC IE Literally SUCKS". Students have no clue or aspirations during the school and so do the faculty. By the way, imagine a department with 4 faculty members offering Bachelors, Masters & PHD degrees. Most importantly, if you would like to pursue grad school in same discipline after bachelors, you can never graduate from the program. The reason being "All courses offered would have been already taken by you in undergraduate program". I strongly recommend you to stay away from earning a degree in such a department. You would be more than worth of it without having a degree from UIC :(:(:(
