A word to the wise: name recognition is hugely important when it comes to design firms. ISU's interior design department is virtually unknown outside of Terre Haute, where most of its graduates stay and either get married or end up working at a different job. I moved to Louisville, and had to compete with Purdue and IU and UK grads. If they see you're not from a well-known school, you get shuffled to the back. In this economy, you can't afford to pick a school just because its cheap or easy. Unless you have an enomrous amount of natural talent and major determination.

If you want to be an interior designer, do not come here. Choose carefully a design program where the professors and alumni are closely connected with the industry and major firms. Purdue is a safe bet if you want to stay in state.
