Quite Bright
I graduated from purdue in '89.and its not a bad university, socialy its very old fashioned, its like going back to the 50's.I once asked why doesnt purdue have a college radio station like everyone else and his answer was that "rock and roll would be a bad influence on the community", and this was from a 20 something year old in the late 1980's.The dorms are all segragated by sex,the males on one side and the females on the other, you actually need an escort if you want to go over to the other side!the students are mostly dumb pig farmers trying to get a degree and the professors arent much better. This is one of the very few universities where the community influences the college and not the other way around. The classes arent bad and purdue has some respect with employers.Of course this was the 80's now that its the 2013, purdue has managed to get to the 80's.so expect bad mullets and 'miami vice' pastel clothes, and alot of 80's techno rock on the radio!

Not so bright
The only major issue I have with Purdue is the greek system. They hold all the major club positions, most of the sorority girls are very close minded and fake, the frat guys think they shit don't stink, I wish mom and dad would lose all of their money for a month and they'd be forced to get a job and live like some of the less forunate people... then they'd understand that some of use have to WORK for our success and not have mom and dad give it to us on a silver platter.

This school is a driven on making money. They want you to take their classes that are only offered here at Purdue. If you're a transfer student and want to get in, you're automatically place in with the freshman class because for engineer students, Purdue has two special classes that aren't offered anywhere else and have to be taken your freshman year. Their website is highly misleading. You need at least a 3.9 GPA to get in for engineering. That's why mostly Asians come here from around the world. Another thing, girl to guy ratio is pretty bad. My advise, save your $50 and apply somewhere else. There's better schools than Purdue. That's why i'm transferring to UIUC after this spring course.
