| | | I have really enjoyed my time here at ND. I should be finishing my Ph.D. soon and I feel somewhat prepared to enter the "big" world and get a job. | | Apr 04 2007 | Chemistry | | |

| | | Notre Dame is probably one of the greatest places to go for a truly American college experience. The teachers care, the faculty cares, and the people are genuinely nice. Mind, Body, and Spirit all grow here with good old fashioned American values. That said, it is not for everyone. If you are on the political left or are promiscuous, you will not find a place in the community. ND is a place that is relatively conservative, religious, and where chastity is still considered a virtue. | | Mar 01 2007 | Business - Management and Administration | | |

Grad school, at least in a pure PhD program, is NOT for people who did well in undergrad and just want to continue with classes instead of joining the real world. First of all, the research in the program seems to dominate the classwork -- this is bad for people who come here expecting 3 more years of "undergrad" experience. This isn't so much a criticism of Notre Dame as it is advice to all prospective grad students. Check out the Piled Higher and Deeper comic strip for some insight (albeit sarcastic) into graduate school.
That said, the classes themselves are excellent. I attended an elite east coast university for undergrad, and I am confident that the grad program there is not as intellectually stimulating and challenging as it is at ND. Oh, one more thing, it helps if you like football :) | | Mar 29 2005 | Computer Science | | |
