There have been 3 professors who have beenQuite BrightEducation
There have been 3 professors who have been greatly helpful at the overland park distance education program. The others are more absorbed in their own gains and education. The mentor i have in block 2 is ok, i wouldn't recommend them to someone else. It has been a very stressful experience and I've already been in the wordforce as a professional. I don't think id recommend the program to someone.

My semester here at ESU has been horrible.BrightBiology
My semester here at ESU has been horrible. I'm - was, committed to becoming a scientist - fisheries biologist but this place has broken my spirit. A little bit of my failing is on me; I thought this university would be a bit easier than KU but maybe a bit more applicable in learning real science but no! I was dead wrong. I feel like my grades are so far are of no reflection to the work I've done and it seems like I'm just by myself, that I have to rely soley on myself for learning whats needed. I have over 100 credit hours now, came in as a "senior" so I feel like I know a bit about learning and teaching (and had a class where I taught science to elementary). It seems they just want drones who have no other personal self interests and no life and are just told what to do but at the same time, the learning part is up to you! its crazy. Its caused me to reconsider becoming a scientist and also has caused madness, depression and loneliness.

Emporia is a really beautiful (but small) campus.Psychology
Emporia is a really beautiful (but small) campus. I LOVED the small campus and community feel as an undergraduate and would recommend it hands-down for that reason time and time again.

Unfortunately, the faculty in the psychology department rarely play nice with one another, and the advising in that department is spotty. I am a very dedicated student (graduated with over a 3.8 from ESU and a 4.0 from grad school) and pay very close attention to the classes I need for graduation but, had I not, I could have ended up staying an additional semester because of faulty advising.

I found that the majority of students at ESU do not work as hard as I do, and would become upset any time there was more work to do than they felt they should "have" to do. I thought this was unfortunate because I went to school to be challenged and did not find that most classes were challenging.

There are some wonderful professors (Dr. Kelly in Political Science, Dr. Holmes in Psychology) but there are some that are grumpy and difficult to work with. HOWEVER, there are a lot of opportunities for research at ESU as everyone supports you in that. Class sizes are small, and most classes are taught by professors, not GTA's.

Great services at ESU for student success like the health center, counseling center, and very nice cashiers in the Brusar's office. Very hard to find a part time job in town and the career services office is awful. Overall, I'd say it was worth the money that I paid, but I do wish they would boost some of their services.
