I have had a wonderful experience at Johnson County Community College for my first two years. It is A LOT like high school though, the teachers WILL let you turn in late work, they will let you correct tests and they will allow you to skip and most of the time make up assingments. However, in my program, Hospitality Management-Hotel Management the teachers are wonderful and WELL respected and have higher expectations for you....not much more but more so than liberal arts professors. All of my teachers have worked in the industry and have first hand experience. They LOVE to tell stories and LOVE to help you. I would highly recommend this department of Johnson County Community College....we all HATE calling it a community college, most of the time we refer to it as Quivira State. (The college is located on Quivira Rd and it's just a big joke that everyone is in on.)

Quite Bright
Do not go to Johnson County Community College. Sure the classes are easy and it does save money, but you're not getting what you pay for. The faculty are uptight and arrogant about their degrees and what kind of work they've done, not just to you but to other faculty members. Smokers are a huge problem on campus; if you have allergies don't even think about going here, because it is that bad. The wireless internet system is antiquated and can't manage the huge workload it receives so as a consequence it takes forever to get something on the internet at times. The buildings are nice, but that doesn't justify for that fact that it is vastly overcrowded. Parking is a pain in the butt. If you come here thirty minutes before your class begins and it's during the peak hours (10 am - 2 pm), you'll be missing part of class because of the lack of parking spaces. We have a four story parking garage and the college refuses to add on to it. Your potential peers aren't too bad, but since it's a community college most people leave after their classes are over for the day rather than stay around for a while. Simply put, the cons outweight the pros. Do not go to Johnson County Community College.
