| Bright | I can only speak to the Adult program that Mid-America Nazarene offers (also known as Innovative Adult Education). The program was very disappointing, with the exception of a statistics course. However, even the statistics professor acknowledged that the program did not allow sufficient time to truly learn the principles of the course. Essentially, each evening was like a social gathering and a self-quiz in a Cosmopolitan magazine. If you are truly wanting a quality education and you are an adult needing to finish as quickly as possible, I would urge you to look at other schools that offer quality programs, such as Kansas State University's degree completion programs. The University has some very good instructors, as well as some very questionable faculty. The students, for the most part, are friendly and easy to get along with. | Surrounding City: A, Education Quality: F | | | |

| Quite Bright | All in all College is a must to have these days in order to attain a comfortable job. I would recomend to High School Students and College Students that you will want to try and specialize in a field of study as much as you can. I went to college with an undecided major like most students do and ended up getting a general business degree which did get me a nice job straight out of college. Now with the job market not up to par you really need to be specialized in a field to land the better jobs. Figure out what degree you want to attain and then see how you can stand out in that field either by taking specific classes or attaining certificates or certain titles for that degree. Also do some studying and research on the economy and the way everything is heading before you decide on your major. By doing this you will see what markets are hiring and at what level. A college degree in almost any field will get your resume looked at but if there is a way to stand out you are ahead of the game. Do not hesitate to e-mail me if you have any questions. | Starting Job: Supervisor JCPenney, Preparedness: C, Reputation: B+ | | |

MidAmerica's Education Dept. is great. Most of the profs will go out of their way to help you out if you need it.
As for campus life: the dorms are crowded... the food is okay... most of the people are great... chapel can be good (I like the music) but the speakers are normally not that great... Sports are pretty good... We have a great football and basketball team...track is really good too.
Over all I love this school and would never go anywhere else. MNU is what you make of it. If you want to like it you will. If you want to hate it you will. It has its ups and downs like any other school. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Social Life: B-

Of the three universities I attended, MNU was comparably sub-par. I found the coursework to be generally quite stale (with a few exceptions), the faculty to be less than helpful (sometimes even hostile), and the general atmosphere to be very limited and close-minded.
The focus at MNU is definitely on Biblical/Religious studies which is to be expected at a Nazarene University, but during my time there I watched several departments within the Humanities division (modern languages and english) literally crumble.
I lived off campus, but I know the dorms are overly crowded (several two person rooms with three people), the food is not that great, and the "rules" are ridiculous. For the pricey cost, the aforementioned are a lot to digest for the average student seeking a general undergrad experience. The one good thing I have to say for the University is that a degree from there is generally well-respected around the Kansas City area, and that is one of the primary reasons I stayed there through my graduation. Once I started looking for a job, I did feel as though a degree from MNU put me a step above an applicant with a degree from a state school, and, unlike many recent grads, I had a job lined up before graduation. | Preparedness: D+, Reputation: B
