My biggest regret so far is attending UK.BrightArt & Design Department
My biggest regret so far is attending UK. Athletics are prioritised over academics. Overall, the school thinks of its non-athlete students as mere numbers and sources for athlete paychecks. The staff is quite unhelpful, and impossible to contact outside of classes. Parking is horrible, passes are expensive and lots are closed off several weeks before a game. Unless you're into drinking and going out to bars over the weekend, UK isn't a great place to socialise and make friends. Campus security is improving to control crime and sexual assaults (which have been frequent in my two years at this school). I plan to transfer out to a school that values academics and the learning experience.

UK is about money.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
UK is about money. They want more students and to keep them, they lower standards. Students do not study and then complain the teaching was poor and the teacher gets reprimanded. I finished an undergrad degree in the mid 90s and came back to start grad school recently. I thought I would need to audit a course or two as a refresher - boy was I wrong. The classes don't cover half the material they used to, the exams were overly simple, and the students still complained it was hard. I'm looking at my old notes and exams for the same class 20 years ago and in comparison this class is like kindergarten.

The campus is constantly under construction, but the buildings all look the same. Also, the buildings aren't taken care of at all, just allowed to decay until they get torn down and a new one goes up.Students don't fare better - you are a number wherever you go. There is no student life unless you pay to be a greek, and drink every weekend (and weekday). If parties are not for you, this is not a good campus because there really isn't anything else to do in this town.

I attended a small, private high school inQuite BrightSociology
I attended a small, private high school in a larger city and thought I wanted the change of a big school. Upon arriving at UK, however, I realized that that was a big mistake. As someone who enjoys learning, the campus culture is depressing. Proud ignorance runs rampant and there isn't much to do for those who don't drink a lot. There also aren't a ton of healthy food options, and finding decent things to eat has been stressful. There are also long walks to class and horrible parking. I did join a sorority, but it has not helped me socially in any way. Two of my roommates that I came here with couldn't even handle being here and moved back home after the first semester. I stayed second semester for academic reasons, but I will be transferring next year to a smaller school where studying is more socially acceptable.
