I am a resident of Southwestern Louisiana; I grew up about half an hour from McNeese. Growing up, I never thought I would go to McNeese. I made the choice to go there after I was offered an honors scholarship. I am glad I did!! The school is small, but it is beautiful and the teachers and fellow students are friendly and helpful. A small class size gives you more one on one time with teachers. I would recommend it to anyone and I have recommended it to people.

Trying to attend this university was, without a doubt, the most horrible experience of my life. Orginally, I'm from southwestern Louisiana, but my father joined the military and we moved around alot. I graduated with an Associates in Liberal Art from Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ.

Soon after, we moved back to Louisiana, and, after establishing residency in LA, I tried transferring to McNeese. The Education department would only accept FIVE of my classes. (It infuriates me because every university I've looked into in Texas would accept all BUT three, Hawaii Pacific University would accept all BUT five, yet there's McNeese ONLY accepting FIVE?! Oh, and yes, Arizona unis would accept ALL).

Not only did that really get to me, but the ADVISOR (God FORBID you accidentally call them counselor or they will have a freaking hissy fit!!) was EXTREMELY RUDE and CONDESCENDING acting like I was DIRT because I was from a COMMUNITY COLLEGE and kept saying "community college" like saying the phrase was actually killing her. And then downing it and complaining about the classes I took and complaining about this and that and treating me like I was stupid even though she couldn't even figure out how to work her own computer!!!! Just thinking about it makes me all angry again!!!

And, THEN, after the horrible meeting, turned into two hours (because she was too busy chatting with friends the first 20 minutes and sent me away for 30 minutes because of computer problems, she has the NERVE to tell me, "From now on, you need to make an appointment. I don't know how you did things in Arizona, but around here we make appointments. You're lucky I didn't refuse to see you." I was so shocked!! You know why?! This is what I told her, "What?! I was in here yesterday and YOU asked if I could some in at this time!!" She just shrugged and looked way and I walked out and NEVER SET FOOT ON THAT SORRY CAMPUS AGAIN!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL OR MOVE TO SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA. It's pretty much a soul killing experience as people are rude, snobby, racist and it's just not a pleasant place at all. It's more Southern Hostility than Hospitality.

Oh, I can only say two things about McNeese. The Sociology department was decent enough (I spoke with them briefly through a co-worker, who knew them and majored in that area) and the campus itself IS very pretty and well-maintained, especially the courtyard. But it's definitely not worth going to!! DO NOT GO TO THIS COLLEGE IF YOU CAN HELP IT. It feels really good to get that out of my system.
