NSU is a very good regional school. For students who want a small-town collegiate atmosphere with good higher ed instruction, I recommend it.

The biology, chemistry and microbiology courses at NSU made me very well prepared for medical school. I graduated in the top 5% of my med school class. The school has no reputation outside Louisiana, but the price was right and I don't think I would have been better prepared for med school had I attended college elsewhere.

There is not much to do in Natchitoches, but the town is beautiful. There is a nice lake and a river if you enjoy fishing or water skiing. Sports are pretty good. The quality of the teams varies greatly from year to year, but a fair percentage of the student body supports the demons.

Northwestern State University's faculty and staff were extremely helpful throughout my time spent there as an undergrad. The quality of instruction and coursework was exceptional. The only negative about Northwestern State was the small town atmosphere and the limited amount of things to do outside of school in that area.

I have enjoyed my two years at NSU, there is always something to do and people are for the most part friendly. College is what you make of it, but this college definitely helped.
