It seems like there are many complaints about the costs and the status of the campus. It is important to remember the seriousness of what occurred during Katrina and the costs associated with that. Is it true that many of the buildings are old and in need of repair? Yes. But in large part that is the cause of the repairs that were necessary following Katrina. It was bad enough that the school closed for only the second time in its history, the first being the Civil War. I was more than impressed by how the school handled the hurricane, but also by the way in which it has tried to repair itself since that storm. There is constant work being done, and in my opinion it has added more character to a place that is already full of history and culture. Furthermore, New Orleans is an interesting place but it is not the "perfect" place for a tier one school. The general public has almost no work ethic and the government is more corrupt then the news even insinuates. With that being said, the school does an excellent job shielding the students from those problems. In conclusion, I loved my time at Tulane, I would go there again in a heartbeat, and their is definitely a connection between alumni of the university.

I could have gone to many other schools....SO glad I didn't. It's like being abroad for 4 years...very different culture, great friends, great academics, amazing city. Unlike any other school.
