Oevr the last 3 years, I've found Boston College to have a friendly and open environment, allowing a wide variety of beliefs and life styles. Coming from a NYC public school, it's easy for me to see if there is a tolerance for differences. I can say that not only is there a tolerance, differences are welcome at BC. For example, my Freshman year roommate was a devout Moslim (I'm Catholic). We got along fine and are still friends. The faculty are interested in a student's success, since if the students don't succeed, neither will the university. Alumni are very active, and I've met with several successful alumni who have been very willing to help me in my studies and career. In many ways, college is what you make of it. If you go anywhere with a bad attitude and don't get involved, you'll feel that the college is terrible and that everyone there, both students and faculty, are awful people. In realty, it's more likely that it's the student's own problem, not someone else's.

Regarding the perpetual stream of "negative reviews" posted here from external sources (likely BU or Notre Dame Students), I would recommend asking every Boston College Student or Alumni what they think about their School. I'm willing to wager serious money that more than 98% will respond favorably and offer a glowing recommendation.

Conversely, attend a BC-BU Hockey Game if you ever get the chance. Take note of how infantile, crass and vulgar BU Students behave during the course of the games. I swear, they are obsessed with Boston College. For some reason, BU Students like to "think" they have a rivarly with us. Boston College just do not feel the same way towards BU. The only conference we share with them is Hockey East. Aside from that BC plays in Division 1 in all major Sports. We compete on a National Level.

In a desperate attempt to gain recognition, BU Students often bash the strong Academic and Athletic reputation of Boston College through web sites such as the one you're currently reading. They have composed a profanity-laced pep song against BC.

It's as if their own collective worth and existence is based on what BC does. Sad but true.

BC's alumni network is highly underrated. Great blend of theory and application.
