I am a freshman at Holy Cross andQuite BrightMath
I am a freshman at Holy Cross and there is no place I would rather attend. The school is perfectly balanced - hard work and fun weekends. The majority of students are in the same mindset of wanting to succeed academically but also interested in going out. The academics are top notch, but the intelligence of the students does not take away from the fun. Regardless of your major, you will get a job after you graduate because of the alumni connections. It is definitely difficult to obtain a high GPA, and I know plenty of smart and hardworking students struggling to maintain a 3.0. Employers are aware of the challenging academics and are known to understand if a GPA is lower than they would typically hire. I would highly recommend this college.

I went to HC many years ago whenChemistry
I went to HC many years ago when it was still an all male institution. It did not have the preppy feeling then. The science preparation for medical school was excellent. The most important thing one learns at HC is the need to do the right thing for society. Use your intelligence at its highest level for the best benefit of society in general. You do not learn this in any one classroom, you learn it from the nature of the institution. Ask any graduate who has been out in the world for about 10 years and you will hear the same. HC grads do the right thing in life because it is right.

Like any other prospective student, I was theQuite Bright
Like any other prospective student, I was the top of my class in high school. I applied to many schools and ended up choosing Holy Cross because it felt the most comfortable. Huge mistake.I will say that the staff is great. The teachers truly care about you and classes are enthralling and lively. The students though--- pretty awful (with the exception of the few really, unbelievably kind ones). Super arrogant, and most come from very privileged backgrounds. The financial aid department is atrocious-- they'd rather see you go than accommodate your financial needs. The campus police patrol on the weekends like chaperones at a middle school dance. Almost every friend I made at HC seriously considered transferring after realizing how unhappy they were with the work/life balance, 'college life' reality, and the general atmosphere of asshole-ness at Holy Cross. The career planning department is also essentially worthless in helping you to get a job after college. So you find yourself regretting, in serious student loan debt and searching for a job like any post-grad at much lesser degree schools. Please, if you're a prospective student with a bright future and a strong curiosity-- save yourself the agony and GO ELSEWHERE!
