Ok after reading these past reviews i feelQuite BrightVideo/Media
Ok after reading these past reviews i feel obligated to straighten everything out because Emerson is hardly getting any of the credit it deserves. Unfortunately, the only people that go to this site are angry students that want to bash their schools, so as a result lots of colleges (like Emerson) are getting misleading reviews. There are LOTS of normal people at Emerson..only very few are the blue haired weirdos that i'm reading about. Take a tour if you don't believe me. The kids here are very normal, average college students. The academics are also very good and get more prestigious each year. The teachers are widely experienced and are working professionals in their respective fields; the most famous of which is Kevin Bright, executive producer of Friends. Another example is my Environment and Humankind teacher, who is paid by National Geographic to study gorillas in Uganda. What I'm trying to tell you is that in reality very few students are not happy here, and you shouldn't handicap yourself by not visiting and making your own decisions.

Question
Emerson College is a warm and accepting environmentQuite BrightJournalism
Emerson College is a warm and accepting environment no matter who you are or what background you might come from. One of the greatest thing about this school is the commitment the student body has to their work. Because Emerson is such a specialized school, the entire student body is incredibly into their majors. At Emerson, it is almost about what you do outside the classroom rather than inside the classroom. There are so many groups and extra curricular activities constantly going on that it would be a shame not to get involved in any of them. And because everyone is so passionate about what they do, the extra circulars are not a simple get together of students, it is consider very serious work. I think one of the bad things about the school, is the will to get out and work. Because there are so many opportunities given to the students at this school, many wish to get involved in their work so quickly that some student leave to start there professional careers. It seems like a downfall, but really it one of the greatest things about the school is that students feel prepared and are prepared for real life opportunities.

Question
I don't understand half of the whiny commentsQuite BrightCommunications
I don't understand half of the whiny comments posted on here. I'm a freshman marketing communications major and I love this college. My very first semester I was given two challenging foundation classes in speech communication and research writing that taught me a lot of fundamentals. Then I got into a photo class, which people like to say is impossible until you're a senior, met with nothing but helpful administration when I wanted to change my major, became a board member for the photography organization, whose budget is 10,000 dollars annually supplied entirely by the college. This college is amazing if you're energetic and motivated enough to get a good experience. Being in Boston is absolutely incredible. Again, if anyone says that there's nothing to do here they are blind to the fact that an entire city lies at their feet full of museums, live music, parks, and tons of other activities. The campus has over 75 organizations that do everything from produce movies to save the polar bears, and everything in between. If you know what you want to do and you're passionate about and don't want to just sit on your a$$ waiting for everything to be handed to you, this is the best school for those who want to be in communications programs. It's taught me how to motivate myself, cut through giant quantities of red tape, and has just begin giving me a great education about marketing. My professors have had great real world experience, and are always there for me when I need them. P.s. the study abroad program is absolutely AMAZING
