I graduated from the Biology/Exercise Science program and had a great experience. I will admit that the surrounding town is not ideal by any means. There is a crime/violence problem and students should be careful. However, even as a student who lived off campus, I had good experiences with the "townies" as well. Simply put, they are human too so don't act like you are better than they are--you will probably meet some pretty decent and interesting people. I would recommend FSC if you are not afraid of urban culture(good and bad).

I am a Business major, and the good thing about this school is that the staff and faculty are extra helpful and friendly. The price of the education is very reasonable. The professors are fair in general. If you study and put effort into it, there is no problem getting B's and even A's. Just so you know, I always put effort into my study, so I've got all A's so far. The professors are knowlegeable, treat you like a person but not a number. If you really get involved with the school, you'll get to like it more. There are activities like the Greek life, Student government, Student Conduct Board, athletic teams and academic clubs. The facilities at FSC are improving.
The only bad thing about this school is that it can be really quiet on the weekend because everybody goes home. Other than that, I can not think of any bad thing to say about this college. I heard that one day this college would become Fitchburg State University instead of FSC. So, in general the quality FSC has to offer is pretty decent. If you really study, it does not make much of a difference to go to a more expensive school because the education you get from fsc is pretty much similar to that of the top schools.

My experience at Fitchburg State was a positive one. I have attended other schools, both before and since my time at Fitchburg, (Rivier, Simmons, and UMass Lowell), but I have the highest respect for Fitchburg State. Yes, it is in a horrible location, but the school itself is safe, and provided activities for students who didn't only want to drink in somebody's basement.

I got a great education and grew so much as a person during while obtaining a B.S. in psychology here.

I grew up in the next city from fitchburg so I wan't surprised with anything I saw. The school is old but is making improvments and renovations. The strongest majors are education and nursing. The business program is a joke here. The classes are fairly small so you do have a lot of access to the teachers. The campus life gets old quick b/c there is only so much you can do, which is go to a little bar called the wine cellar which is owned by cops and evreyone is underage. The area is incredibly ghetto but to get to off campus parties only take a simple walk across the street. I really wouldn't recomend going to fitchburg. Oh yea...everyone goes home on the weekends...how fun...
