Not my cup of tea.Quite BrightPolitical Science
Not my cup of tea. I'm not a hippie and expected there to be diversity, when there wasn't any. Hampshire is full of hippie wannabe close-minded rich white kids who do drugs and are standoffish. The academics comes down to readings and projects, no tests or quizes...you can pretty much graduate no sweat. I had a prof. that made kids cry and was an asshole to students, and didn't give them the time of day. Maybe a good fit if you're a hippie or hipster looking to study film or art, otherwise don't waste your time.

Question
I completed my BA at Hampshire in aboutPolitical Science
I completed my BA at Hampshire in about three years and must say that I was shocked by the radical political environment; narrow-minded faculty and students; and socially inept group I encountered. These were very lonely years for me and I'm so sad that I spent my college years at such a bizzare and disturbing place.

Since I was so unhappy at Hampshire, I simply pursued a course of study that would enable me to graduate as quickly as possible.

My advice to anyone who does not share a far left leaning political ideology is to avoid Hampshire College at all costs. Reading reviews by recent students, I see that things haven't changed there in the 36 years since I graduated.I view my time at Hampshire as the "lost years." If you are a Christian, be forewarned that you are entering into enemy territory where your most cherished values will be arrogantly challenged and disrespected by many.

Question
Hampshire unfortunately consistently underperforms in meetinHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
Hampshire unfortunately consistently underperforms in meeting its most important obligation: adequately educating its students and preparing them for successful professional lives and careers. The underpinning of its educational methodology is that academic freedom will lead students to be more curious and inquisitive about the subjects they love; however the sad truth is that most students do not develop critical analytical and qualitative skills to perform effectively in a competitive work environment or in a graduate setting. For those who are enrolled now, I recommend that they rely on their work ethic (if they have one) to hopefully come close to what quality education and learning may be.
