Mass Maritime is a military school. It's not fun to be a freshmen, but as you progress through the school, your privledges increase. I graduated during a recession year and had job offers for 5 different companies as well as the option to accept a commision in the Navy. You have the weekends off, so you can leave if you wish! The school is small enough that pretty much everyone can play D-III sports if they wish. There is a great intramural program for those who do not want to commit to varsity sports. The dorms are clean and safe. The food is great. The schooled closed the on-campus pub a few years ago, so you'll have to go out into town to rage. Mass Maritime will give you as much as you put into it. The Homecoming slogan has always been, "I swore I'd never go back", but MMA has one of the most close-knit alumni associations and they provide great support for the school. If you compare the education you get with that of other schools, MMA provides the best vaule for your education dollar as any school in the country!

Massachusetts Maritime Academy is not an easy school, nor is it a recreational school, but the rewards after graduation are well worth the effort. I would suggest the engineering program for those unsure of a career at sea.

Don't be fooled by its amazing location and beautiful campus. The full four years suck immensely. Not one person I know that goes there, went there because of the social life, the program, or the "wonderful" environment. Everyone is treated like crap. In fact the students are the ones who maintain the campus. The only Plus, everyone who makes it out of there is guaranteed a job. most land with 3 job offers in their junior year, also these jobs are extremely well paid, ranging from the lowest being 50k all the way to 120k in your first year alone. unfortunately, a lot of the kids who go there and graduate with the bare minimum expected effort land with these undeserved jobs.
