Sure, it's nice to come back to a "quiet" dorm after a long day in class, but on the weekends I found it more satisfying to go home and spend time with my parents because of the lack of events the campus has to offer. I knew coming in that it would not be a "party school" but I found that there is nothing in its place. If no one is partying, we're all watching Netflix in our rooms and having a lackluster college experience. Sure Boston is a great city, but unless you have an abundance of spending money then there's really nothing fun to do (except walk around the public gardens, go to MFA for free, etc.) Parties usually mean going to random MIT or Northeastern frat houses which does not interest me or most of my friends. It's fine that there is no drinking on campus ever (I'm sure parents love this!), but I wish there was something in its place. I even tried joining a Colleges of the Fenway group, but it only held my interest for so long. Not to mention the food is not worth the cost that it is to attend Simmons! Overall, my education as a nursing student has been competitive (although there are some know-it-alls), but because of the difficulty to get involved and be entertained is lacking, I am transferring for my sophomore year. The school is great for some people, but it will not by any means be a typical college experience. If that's what you want then Simmons is a great option, but if not I do not recommend it. I found many of my gen. ed. classes to be boring (to be expected), but to the point where I was never assigned homework and did not know what to do with my time. The curriculum focuses on "women empowerment and diversity." It was a positive experience geared towards helping girls "blossom." Education Quality: A+, Social Life: C Have a Question? I am in the Physical Therapy Program which is very competitive and well-known. Socially the school isn't fantastic. I have some great friends but we all know that we aren't having the "normal college experience". Sure this is known because we go to an all women's college but we still get out and have friends at surrounding universities and get out on the weekends. There is more to a college social life than going to parties on the weekend and this is where Simmons struggles. We only interact with the opposite sex on the weekend and become awkward when interacting with them in a non party situation. As far as the student body goes, it is very diverse. Classes are fairly small, especially non-science classes. The Professors are wonderful for the most part but as with any university there are bad professors. The Nursing students make up a majority of the student population. They are the biggest complainers in the school and make you know when they have an exam or a practical coming up. They get way too stressed out despite the fact they only need a C+ in their classes to stay in their program. PT majors need a B and are allowed only one B- in their undergraduate courses.
