 | Bright | | Simmons is a great academic institution. I am in the Physical Therapy Program which is very competitive and well-known. Socially the school isn't fantastic. I have some great friends but we all know that we aren't having the "normal college experience". Sure this is known because we go to an all women's college but we still get out and have friends at surrounding universities and get out on the weekends. There is more to a college social life than going to parties on the weekend and this is where Simmons struggles. We only interact with the opposite sex on the weekend and become awkward when interacting with them in a non party situation. As far as the student body goes, it is very diverse. Classes are fairly small, especially non-science classes. The Professors are wonderful for the most part but as with any university there are bad professors. The Nursing students make up a majority of the student population. They are the biggest complainers in the school and make you know when they have an exam or a practical coming up. They get way too stressed out despite the fact they only need a C+ in their classes to stay in their program. PT majors need a B and are allowed only one B- in their undergraduate courses. | Surrounding City: A+, Social Life: D+ | | | |

| | | | Aware that small classrooms are recognizably advantageous, Simmons was on my daughters list of colleges to investigate. Most recently, we attended an open house. Rather than finding an intimate, open campus with worldly vision - the visible impression was that it was a rather stiflingly, small institution represented by those with even smaller minds and trivial, closed perspectives; oddly, they had such an overinflated view of themselves, and their sweet little campus, I honestly felt sorry for them. The shining highlight of the expedition proved to be the ancillary employees (ie, those working within the dining facilities and coffee kiosks) - many of whom showed such kindness and protectiveness of "their girls", it proved to be most unique and rather endearing. | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | | |

| | Quite Bright | When I applied to Simmons, I lacked the confidence to apply to more prestigious universities, despite the fact that I was quite capable of being accepted. It is possible that I would have gotten a better education at one of those institutions. That being said, Simmons has provided me with emotional support and self-awareness that give me the confidence to apply to some very selective graduate programs. | Useful Schoolwork: A+, Perceived Campus Safety: C | | | |
