I can't say I hate Umass but I can't say I love it either. I really think that the biggest part of liking a school is if you have made friends. For me I've found it kinda hard to make friends unless they live in your building. Unfortunately, I lived in Northeast which tends to be the boring side of campus which it truly was. The stereotypes of the different parts of campus are VERY true, so decide where you want to live wisely. However, people are relatively friendly I think, it's just hard to just make friends and hang out with them since the campus has so many students and the campus is very large. I thought that I wouldn't mind going to a big school, but after going to Umass I've figured out this isn't the case. I do like how Umass is pretty flexible and has many opportunities available for their students. I know that studying abroad is really easy here and they are all willing to help you be able to study abroad. Getting involved though I think can be hard since no one really cares about the clubs. If you are out of state I really don't see why you would want to spend your money here. The food is really good though and the nightlife changes from night to night like any other school. There really isn't much to do unless you are on campus. If you are worried about going to a big school, I don't think this would be a good choice for you. However, I have found that all my teachers are really caring and want to help their students, so I have really enjoyed that part of the school.

This school is the worst in the state now. If you plan on being treated like a child in high school this is the place for you. If you want be to treated like the adult you are do not come here. If you want to have fun and enjoy college do not come here. The town of Amherst hates college students, especially UMass ones and do everything in their power to get you into trouble. I am a senior graduating and this school has gone done hill since my freshman year. If I wasn't a senior I'd transfer.
