I would like to comment on the generalBright
I would like to comment on the general unfriendliness of this campus. I am a transfer student here, and I live in the honors/freshman secion of campus (Orchard Hill) and people do not even make eye contact while walking past each other, let alone smiling or saying hi! The cafeterias here are very solitary, and its easy to feel lonely in such a huge, unfriendly place (it's KILLING me, as an extremely outgoing and social person!!) aaaaaahhh!

Question
I think UMass is a great school forQuite BrightPhysics
I think UMass is a great school for people who like large communities. It truly is a small city in itself, which is nice, since the actual town of Amherst is pretty small. But whatever your personality, you will find people who are like you, it is hard not to. There's always plenty to do, a great night life, and its a lot of fun. I admit, the administration can be difficult at times, but think how hard it is to manage records for more than 18,000 students. The wide variety of majors is also very nice. Even if you are not sure what major you want, you'll have the time and opportunity to try out different things.

Question
The University is more concerned with Internet educationQuite BrightCriminal
The University is more concerned with Internet education for Non traditional students and zero tolerance, anti-alcohol programs rather than the actual education of the students paying and living there. Best example is the foreign language department has been literally sliced in half. 50% faculty cut . . .and the University requires kids to take foreign languages . . .how can they if no one can get into the class due to no faculy? The University dean and presidents have lost their focus and are more worried about their image to non-students, than the education and well being of present students . . .
